Car sometimes hesitates while accelerating
Basically the problem I'm having is that while I'm accelerating(especially in 1st and 2nd gear) the car will hesitate and then usually what I'll do is press the gas and a second or two later the power will suddenly kick in. It doesn't happen all the time but it seems to happen a lot when the engine is cold.
One thing that happened that may be related is a few months ago I got a cel for code 1(oxygen sensor). I replaced the O2 sensor but the cel remained on. Finally one day I took off the distributor cap and found that the terminal on the distributor cap that contacts the rotor(to give the rotor power from the coil)disintegrated and was barely making contact with the rotor. I replaced the dizzy cap and the cel disappeared.
My spark plugs were messed up from this incident so I replaced them with new NGK v-power plugs and went for a test drive at max RPMs to make sure everything was good. Amazingly the cel returned! Checked the dizzy cap and it was fine so I left everything alone.
I had a relay kill switch on the black/yellow main power wire on the distributor and I thought that might be restricting power to the distributor so I removed it and the cel left. The cel came and went a few times after that and now it hasn't come back in a while.
So I think it may be the ignition coil or something with the ignition system but I'm not sure.
Any ideas?

Short ram intake is pretty much the only engine mod.
