1995 Civic VX, Stock!

OK, my motor takes lil while to warm up. My temp guage will never get to half, or even 1/4 hot when it is cold outside. If I get on it and rod some the temp will jump a lil. Runs fine in hot weather, does not overheat.

(my fan is not always on either. Cold or Hot outside)

My ? is how can I get it to run hotter, so my heater puts out more hot air. I was thinking heater core, but if my motor temp is running hotter it blows hotter air. Seriously I drove for over 4+ hours yesterday running round town, stop/go, on/off, It never went slightly above the C all day. it does blow warm air, its not just cold, it does put out heat, just not much.

bad thermostat? But if that was the case would'nt it overheat?

Any suggestions? I flushed coolant befor winter.

ur thurmostat is prob stuck open

it could also be stuck open i think mines stuck open... i start up around 630 am to go to work let it idle for about 4 minutes drive 10 minutes to work and its still barely over the c line

So, I can just pop it out and take a look?

If it is stuck open, can it be fixed to work properly, or is it broke and it sticks open as a precautionary measure from overheating?

thermostats are bookoo cheap just get one, you're gonna be pissed if you pull that housing off and it is broke and you don't have one to put in. Maybe it isn't broke, but you won't be out more than a couple of bucks

Yea, $17.75 or something just called dealership.

But itll be fine for week or so? Already drove round like this for week or 2. Payday NEXT friday. :/

Last year, I didnt flush my coolant in time befor the first freeze, running water due to leaky waterpump. My ? is could me overheating my motor due to frozen coolant system cause this? (bad thermo) It didnt overheat to the point of damageing it, the moment temp went past normal I pulled over ASAP, let it cool then brought it home.
Again this happened last year, not a single problem since, waterpump has leaked for 1 1/2 year +. Also how long does a bad waterpumno usually go for, I was told as long as I have coolant in it, it should just leak?

I would make it a day and fix that water pump, spend the 50 bucks and an afternoon(and I don't want to hear any ******** reply that they can do it in an hour, ok I get it you're tuff), You'll save yourself from wondering everytime there is a problem, "well my water pump is bad soooo......??"

yea your thermostat can be stuck open i use it that way on one of my cars because i dont want it to over heat but 17 bux sounds kinda high try a local parts store

Oh shush, its a d15z...178K on it. VX Trans...total worth $200.
(No leaks cept water pump, doesnt eat oil, or smoke, no grinds in trans either, no clutch slippage.) Gets the job done.

Id rather save 50$ towards a swap.

I know its only $50, I should do it...but now its cold out. BuuR, But whats worse freezing in my own garage, or freezing on the side of the road? I'll take my garage thank you very much!

lol to be honest, my car takes longer than normal to warm up... i guess its stuck partly open ?!?!? dunno, ill remote start it, it will run for like 15mins, n when i get in its barly off of the c until i drive a little...

But mine wont go off of the C, unless I really get on it. Then only heats upf or a short time.

well i guess that your climate could openly affect this too tho right? you said its cold outside, well right now its snowing where i am, and it takes a while for the car to acutally heat up
