car jerks and stutters when i ease off gas or accelerate...
hey guys i need some opinions...
i have a d16z6 and when im driving, i normally go to about 3000 RPM before shifting to the next gear.
i notice though, in 1st and 2nd especially, that if i just release the gas without depressing the clutch, the car jerks like a mother trucker. and when i step on the gas, there's a slight hesitation and then more jerking before it starts to accelerate...
i changed the fuel filter, cleaned injectors, cleaned throttle body... out of ideas..
this happens EVERY time...
HELP!!

letting off the gas is going to do that because letting off the gas changes power from the engine to the cars momentum, there for creating a jolt, which is transfered to the suspension and depending on the quality/age of your suspension, its going to jerk and bounce.

Could be a TPS, mine did this when i let off the gas and i changed the tps and it stopped.
Also mine would do this at higher speeds and i had a bad valve cover gasket.

Try cleaning your iacv, my car was doing the same problem and I cleaned the iacv. Defenatly helped the problem, even though it came back after two weeks

lol, mine does the same thing. I shrugged it off as being normal because the less I pressed on the pedal before releasing it the car wouldn't shake, but when I pressed on the pedal hard enough it would jolt/jerk as soon as I release the gas. Seems to be based on how hard your pushing on the pedal before you release it. Engine wants to go but your telling it "No"

Whats the condition of the Dist. Cap and rotor? What about the Cylinder Position sensor in the Distributor? Any damage? Sounds like a very similar issue I faced when my Dist. rotor screw found its way through my Dist. like a Pin-ball machine. Even at the rpm range and throttle application u described....

yeah im expecting the TPS as well...
no CEL..
spark is good.
just replaced the iacv about 6 months ago... but it was doing it before and after i switched it out..
i'll check the dist cap and rotor this weekend...
ALSO.............
say if im in 2nd gear and running around 3000 RPM... if i let go of the gas, the car will jerk hard then immediately lose power and decelerate, similar feeling to downshifting...
i know that obviously when u let go of the gas you will decelerate, but this is almost like a forced decelerating... i dont likey...

I only read the first 3 posts so idk if extra info was posted or if this was covered, but check your dizzy cap and rotor button. In the 5th gen civics it's real common for that screw that holds the rotor button in to come out, your rotor button will sit there and spin but it'll be real lose and make it seem like you've got a clogged fuel filter or a bad spark plug or something.
