Car broke this morning
I was sitting at a light when i felt something in my clutch pedal and the motor started idling low like it was under load. I couldnt take it out of gear and the clutch pedal does nothing now. It still is stiff like usual and the slave cylinder moves, but the clutch doesnt engage/disengage. I can change gears if I turn the car off. What could have happened?
Im not sure wtf it is, beacuse the clutch isnt fully engaged, and i cant engage/disengage it any more regardless of pushing the pedal.
Edit: took apart the car and it was the clutch springs.
Replaced the clutch with a XTD Stage 2 and reused the Competition Clutch Pressure plate. Now the clutch is rubbing/grinding on something, what can cause this?
And how many ft/lb does the Pressure plate need to be TQ'd to?
And what can cause no speed sensor to work. Because so far no speed sensor works in this new transmission.

Re: Car broke this morning
not that old. Ive had it less than a year, and i bought it used from my friend who had it about 6 months. Its a stage 3 6 puck, and it had alot of life on it when i put it in about 8 k miles ago.
Is it possible for the throwout bearing to break and cause this problem? Because i replaced the throwout bearing a few months back because it started to grind, and I bought this Nachi throwout bearing online because I was short on $.

Re: Car broke this morning
i have seen throwout bearings get put on crooked and make them break
have also seend the fork break around the throwout bearing
i hate to say it, but you are gonna have to pull that tranny to check everything out.
didnt you just build that thing and put it all together recently?

Re: Car broke this morning
if you have an old clutch prolly one of the clutch springs snapped off and is not letting you engage or disengage the clutch or it can also be your pressure plate.but do the easy first and check clutch fork, clutch pressure, clutch cilinder, and clutch master cilinder.if all of them are good then start taking the tranny off.

How far is the slave cylinder supposed to move? And if the clutch fork broke wouldnt there be no pressure in the pedal?

Re: Car broke this morning
it could be a clutch spring as well, could be the pressure plate.
it sucks but the only way to be sure is to take it apart

Re: Car broke this morning
yes i know, but could that just happen as im holding the pedal? I mean it felt like something snapped while i was holding the clutch, but it didnt really affect the weight of the pedal at all, and now the pedal doesnt disengage the clutch. :/

Re: Car broke this morning
Im willing to bet that it is your release bearing. If it snapped (One othe side clips) your pedal will still have pressure because of the hydraulic lines but it will not let the clutch engage or disengage. This would be the cheapest fix, (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JAPAN...Q5fAccessories)
Other than that, if it is a pressure plate problem, your ganna need a new kit! What type of clutch kit is it?

If it felt like something snapped i would put money on it being the clutch fork... or a long shot the springs in the clutch giving out for some reason and it locked it up. my buddy did his throwout bearing and it wasnt in all the way and locked up on him.

Here's the NAPA number for a b18c1 clutch release bearing:
Line: Altrom (ATM)
Part Number: 0702910
They run ~$25 with a 1 year warranty.
