Can you guys give me some pointers for checking my timing
I want to check my timing and am on spring break right now so i have plenty of free time and thought now would be a good time to do it. I have been getting bad gas mileage and have found that a lot of little adjustments were overlooked when the previous owner swapped in the engine so I want to make sure my timing is good although the engine runs pretty smooth so i doubt it's off really bad or anything. Does anyone have any good write ups for checking timing or if you could give me some quick pointers i would appreciate it. I just don't want to waste my time overlooking something. Thanks for the help.

Look in the Electrical chapter in the Ignition System section.
Your local auto parts store may also rent a timing light to you.
