You live in San Diego. There's no reason to have air conditioning on your Civic. If you wrestle with the pulley some more and have no luck, just take the bastard off and enjoy the free hp.

i recently took mine off... it was a bitch but it eventually broke loose. get more leverage and give it hell. try a breaker bar. i used a little 14mm box end wrench on it, and was pulling HARD toward the front of the car. after about 3 minutes it finally gave in, my hand flew forward and i cut my wrist on something up there. be careful... i bled pretty bad.

I think you're thinking of the AC or the Alternator one... because I already got those off.
This one has a pulley that slides up and down (in theory) but I can't get it to head back down. I tried banging it like a madman to try to get it to budge with no luck.
Any other tips?

yeah but the thing's adjustable, in theory. to take that off would involve taking off the ac compressor but that's probably my only option right now.
wouldn't be so bad but I gotta write a paper entirely in japanese tonight.. due tomorrow..not looking forward to it.

hmm.. there's a bolt that holds the AC tensioner pulley, but make sure you loosen the tensioner bolt first. Its a 10mm long bolt and a 12mm nut. Those should be really easy to take off. If you are having trouble getting to the bolt that holds the pulley, u can take off your driver side engine mount and the lower engine mount (by the crank pulley), and let your engine sag down. From that, you can get access to the pulley. Hope that helps.

the bolts are frozen solid, and I can't get them to move at all.
I just took the whole pulley/bracket off and left off the ac belt for the meantime. When I get the time, i'll try to pry it all apart and put it back together, definately before the summer here.
