A/C Question (00 civic hx)
Okay, I need your guys help here.
Recently my belt going to my A/c etc has been slipping and making noise so I decided to tighten the belt. All was good for a day then stopped blowing cold (compressor not engaging).
I think I may have over tightened the belt, I tried loosening it some and still nothing. Switched around my relay with the heater one to see if it was a bad relay and still nothing.
Any advice on how to fix this or is it one of those $$$$ lessons?
Thanks in advance!

Re: A/C Question (00 civic hx)
Yup, the fan turns on and everything just not cold. I hooked an "ac guage" up to it and the pressure was in the red zone which makes sense because the clutch isnt engaging.
thank you

Re: A/C Question (00 civic hx)
If you remove the compressor clutch relay from the hood fuse box, does the compressor clutch engage if you use a jumper wire to bridge terminal 2 or 4 to terminal 1 in the relay socket.

Re: A/C Question (00 civic hx)
Cool thanks for all the help, Ill have someone look at it on Friday.
Just seems strange that all of the sudden after I adjusted the belt the compressor stopped engaging. Unless I did something that would damage the fuse box. The compressor has been working fine prior to this.
thx

Re: A/C Question (00 civic hx)
You can verify the diagnosis by showing a lack of continuity between hood fuse 56 and terminal 2 of the compressor clutch relay socket.

That's about where my mechanical ability ends haha
Can you explain how to do this in "dummy" terms? Multimeter?

Re: A/C Question (00 civic hx)
1) Plug the red wire probe into the right side red hole. Plug the black wire probe into the black "com" hole.
2) Turn the key to off in the car, disconnect both battery connectors, and then remove the clutch relay from the hood fuse box.
3) Dial the multimeter to the continuity setting (sound symbol below the Ohm/omega/horseshoe symbol). When you touch the two meter probes together, the meter should make a noise (beep or buzz), which indicates continuity.
4) 20A hood fuse 56 has two metal test tabs on its top. Touch one meter probe to one of the top test tabs of installed fuse 56 and the other meter probe to terminal 2 of the clutch relay socket. Does the meter buzz or beep?

Re: A/C Question (00 civic hx)
I am having a smiliar problem with my 99 Honda Civic LX. I was told it was a wiring problem by one shop and a bad compressor by another. My car was in an accident and the firs said they must have cut a wire, hence 2 shops have looked at my car. Can you replace just the clutch would this solve the problem, if there is no continuity can you repace just that fuse?
