Welp, looks like my A/C has died on me earlier in the day.

Compressor doesn't make any noticeable noise, and doesn't seem to put any drag on the engine when I press the A/C button. Do these things have a clutch in them that could possibly die or what?

try this...get a friend to sit in the driver's seat and start the car....at the same time take a look under the hood for yourself and see if the compressor is free spinning or spinning with the belts...have him turn the a/c on and off and see if that makes the comp. spin...if no spinny at all you might have a low charge and the low pressure switch in the line needs to be "tricked" into see a good charge. so the comp. will spin.

a lot of times that is the problem...if you can locate the pressure switch for the a/c system...there is usually 2 wires coming out of it. if you unplug the switch and use a jumper wire to connect the 2 wires in the plug...the compressor should kick on with the magnetic clutch.

if you goto charge an a/c system.... a lot of times the intructions will tell u 2 plug this here and that there and start your car with the a/c on...that's IF your compressor is spinning.

if it's not spinning it can't accept a good charge...you will be wasting money on a couple more cans o' R-134a

1) you may have no freon ...

and 2) your clutch on the compressor may be broken ....

i have the same problem ... my clutch is also broken ... but so is the compressor ... so im S.O.L

if you want to fix it it will run you about $300

but dont worry ... fall is just around the corner

oh yea and don't forget to check your fuse first DUH ME...god i always have to get complicated.
if fuse is good make sure you have power at the compressor. if fuse, power, and charge is good...might be a severe leak or bad compressor. i think

Thanks for the ideas. I'm pretty damn sure that the clutch in the compressor is gone. Looks like I'm going to be picking up a new A/C compressor.

Thats a pretty good deal on the compressor and "Kit" parts. Just make sure your old compressor looks exactly like the Sanden one shown. Honda used different compressors in the same year on many models. I'd make sure I didn't have a low refrigerant issue first before I went and spent that money. Unless you can see that the clutch is cooked by seeing sprayed rubber like stuff in the compressor area, I'd suspect a faulty switch or low refrigerant levels first. If you had low refirgerant levels, you MUST find the source and fix the problem or your wasting your time. If its a cracked pipe your in for a few bucks to get a new one. If its just a connection, then you will need to replace those O-Rings at the appropriate connections. If you do find that the compressor and clutch are bad you must replace all of those O-Rings and the dryer or your wasting your time. In short, your going to have to disassemble the whole system to do the job right.

Couldn't test the compressor, but added more refridgerant and it works now.
