same thing was happening in my 00 si I took the center consol off checked the switch, couldnt figure it out till I looked at the wireing diagram, and sure enough when brake fluid is low it closes the circuit, just like pulling up the e-brake, fill the fluid and your good to go.

I am 100% sure its the fluid same thing was happening to me a week ago and looked through my helms at the wire diagram and just like I said above that solved the problem completly.

You're welcome, obviously he didn't. I'm not an English teacher. So dont worry, you don't have another English teacher here.

At that point coming here and reading break instead of brake just doesn't stick in your craw like it used to.
But feel free to keep being angry at the world and venting on others by picking on their grammar.
OP - Definitely check your brake fluid, otherwise it could be the switch that detects the ebrake is pulled needs to be cleaned, or is starting to fail. I think it's in the ebrake handle assembly, but YMMV.

Lol. Cause that post was filled purley with anger and hate. You could tell by those three words couldn't you? I'm actually a pretty nice dude and wasn't angry at anyone, just figured i'd fill him in since everyone had already stated for OP to check his brake fluid. Wasn't picking on him. Man people are uptight these days! Sorrrrrryyyy geez.
OP... check your brake fluid.
