ok illl try to explain this problem the best i can.

i swapped in a b18b into my 97 civic. everything ran fine for about a week or two, untill today. i was cruising, and i shifted into 3rd to take a turn. midway through the turn, i gave it some gas, and the car bogged, and hesitated pretty bad. so i pulled over into a parking lot, and completely stopped. it still idles perfect.

from a complete stop, i start to accelerate, and my tach is rapidly jumping from like 2-3krpms, but my engine isnt reving, its starting normally. i shift into 2nd, and keeping constant gas, and staying at like 2100-2500rpms, the car is hesisating, and bogging. its not like a constant bogg, it kinda goes in and out of bogging. when i put it in 3rd and give it more gas, it just hesitates even worse.

also while cruising in like 4th, the tach still jumps all over the place, but the engine isnt revving crazy or anything.

ive had no problems with this swap for like 2 weeks, untill today. i searched, but im not too sure what i should look at first....

ALSO, long story short, i have no cat. so i have a check engine light on. when the car starts to bogg REALLY bad, the check engine light flashed real quick.

what are the things i should check first? spark plugs/wires? distributor? o2 sensors? fuel pump/filter?
and help is appreciated..

i would try double checking the timing. something similar happened to me. the car was running fine for a bit and then started bog and hesitate. turns out the timing belt had too much slack and ended up skipping a tooth. we had to re-do it several times but once we got it right everything was cool. good luck.

is my timing going to cause my tach. to rev like crazy, like its doing?

it might be your ignitor its in your distributor, sometimes whens its going bad it causes your tach to jump, or the car might just shut off

can someone get me a write up on how to check the ignitor? how to get in there and what to look for?

ok when im cruising, in any gear, and i mash the gas, the engine just boggs/hesitates really bad. the tach also goes wild, and revs up to like 5k, and jumps all over the place, but the engine isnt revving, its just bogging/hesitating.

cmon, some help me out here. whats wrong?
