GSR BRAKE CONVERSION
Why can't I just bolt up GSR rear disc brakes (keep EK RLCA's) & use the GSR E-Brake cables on my 97 EX sedan????? Why do I have to use 99-00 Si brake cables???? For the front all i have to do is use the GSR calipers, brackets & pads... What about the GSR prop valve??? My 97 EX sedan has the 15/16 MC already but WHY is it I "can't use" the GSR brake cables??????

Re: GSR BRAKE CONVERSION
most likely the cables are a tab bit short, but if you google you'll probably find what you need. M/C size doesn't matter. The prop valve should be a 4040 stamp valve....

Re: GSR BRAKE CONVERSION
That's what I'm saying... I'm seeing things that say both. Because I need this to drive everyday, I don't wanna take the chance and tear it down only to put it right back together...

Re: GSR BRAKE CONVERSION
Yes BUT what I'm saying is... it's 50/50 on the GSR ebrake cables. Like I said I don't wanna tear this down only to find out the cables won't work!!! I feel they should and be either the same size in length or longer in length but still work...

Re: GSR BRAKE CONVERSION
look the only way you're going to be able to find out is do it. if anything you don't have e-brakes for a day or two.... OR....
go to the junk yard and see if you can size up the cables.

says he used everything gsr except the pads

1. 93-97 delsol or 94-01 integra or 99-00 Si or "some" 92-95 Civic Si trailing arm assembly.
2. delsol/Si rear brake lines (if you use integra trailing arms/calipers you need INTEGRA brake lines...they have a COMPLETELY different caliper attachment that WILL NOT work with delsol/si calipers).
3. 99-00 Si Emergency brake lines (integra lines will work but they come together into a single rubber floorpan grommet which you'll have to hack up and you could hear wind noise, etc under the carpet).
4. 99-00 Si Master cylinder/proportioning valve (you can go with integra parts but you'll have to flare lines, etc) the Si stuff is drop in.

Re: GSR BRAKE CONVERSION
Done it using all GSR parts. The cables are short if you move the mounting hangers they are fine. a little tight but been on the car for a few years, also using what ever is stock on the ex for the proportioning valve and never had any lock up problems wet or dry. The only problem I had was getting the parts off the trailing arms. it takes a torx bit and a few of the bolts were impossible to get off and ended up drilling them out.

Re: GSR BRAKE CONVERSION
DC2/4 e brake cables are what I've used in the past because the whole conversion is readily available at junk yards for under $100 including rotors/pads/calipers.
You have to finagle the cables a bit to make the brackets bolt up. Dont tighten any of the bracket bolts till all of them are threaded. You'll also need to thread the adjuster all the way out. Bam. No issues.
You can also use your stock LCAs. Infact, you cannot use DC/EG LCAs on your 96-00 chassis at all.
