Default Battery Draw

I recently picked up a 94' Honda Civic LX. As far as I can tell it is completely stock except for an aftermarket stereo receiver. There are no amps, loose wires, chopped harnesses, alarms, or jenk add ons that I have seen.

It was driven on Saturday and by Tuesday it was click starting. The battery had 4.5 volts or so in it. I 2 amp slow charged it and in a few hours it was back up to 12v.

I tested the battery and it is starting to go bad but not completely dead yet.

With the battery good enough, I started looking for draws on the battery. I checked every fused circuit under the hood and under the dash. The only circuit drawing any power is the "back up" fuse #32 under the hood. It is drawing 105 milliamps with the key off.

Correct me if I am reading this wrong. What I am doing is setting the multimeter to the 10amp setting and placing the leads between the negative battery terminal and the negative battery lead, the meter reads .105. Which I am reading as 105 milliamps. When I unplug the "back up" fuse #32, the draw drops to 0 or .001.

I got on here and found that the "back up" fuse #32 has the clock, the stereo and the ECU on it. I unhooked the stereo and the ecu and the draw is the same .105 amps. I am unable to up-plug the clock without pulling the dash.

Before I go pulling the dash to unplug a clock that is working fine and would probably have burned up by now if it was pulling that much juice, is there anything else on the "back up" circuit that could be drawing power?

why can't you pull the clock?? i don't know if your car is set up differently but i got a 95 civic ex and i can and have pulled my clock without pulling more than two pieces. the clock and the piece the clock is installed into that black piece(in my car) that goes cross the dash around the gauge cluster and all that and if i remember right has the vents in it. pull that and undo the wiring.

Ha, you are correct. It was very simple to pull the clock. I was looking through the manual and it looked much worse.

After unplugging the clock the draw is gone. Upon opening the clock, there is a burnt spot on the LCD screen that must be shorting out causing the draw. Thank you.
