Default b16a3 to b18a or b18b- wiring

I have a 94 del sol with a b16a3 and my friend cracked the block and a piston. I want to do an ls swap now but I need to know how hard the wiring harness will be to modify for the ls motor. What year will be easiest to swap into my car? How hard will the wiring be? Thanks in advance.

is the head anygood? modify a B18A/B to accept the B16A3 head, Frankenstien dude!

i would assume if you get an OBD1 B18 all the wiring would be plug and play and the only wires that would be left over would be those for the VTEC solenoid.

But im assuming, and someone may me.

Yupp eventually those are my plans but right now I dont have the money for the vtec conversion kit and the couple other things i need. But if i get an obd1 b18 then everything is plug and play minus the vtec solenoid... so that would be years 92,94,95 right? because they used b17 in 93 right or was that in the gsr only? correct me if im wrong. i should be going to pick up the motor today or tomorrow.

OBD0 ended in 91
OBD1 is from 92-95
OBD2 Began in 96

The B17 was used in 92 and 93 GSR. Im not familiar when or what years the B18B came in. i would assume they were all OBD1. the B18A is where i get confused, im not a huge fan of this motor, so this is why my knowledge is limited. I think they dumped the B18A in favor of the B18B in 1994 when they Intorduced the DC2. but agian i could be wrong. I would want the newest OBD1 B18B i could get my hands on anyway. Goodluck! i hope i helped in some way.

Your info plus my honda book i ordered off ebay has helped a lot. Its a pretty good book "Honda/Acura Engine Performance". I'm gonna try to find a 95 b18b.. i found a 96 for $400 but since its obd2 that will cause some problems so im gonna continue my search.

If the engine harness comes with it you could splice in the OBD1 engine harness clips that connect to the chassis harness.. I used a 99 Teg high-output alternator on my OBD1 JDM B16A. Worked like a champ, just had to come up with the clip for the alt. But for simplicity get the same OBD as your car..

your going to be looking for a b18b1 its the same as the b18a1,all but the map sensor i think and if you go 93/94/95 it plug and play i would think beside vtec wires and the 96 up block is the same with the added crank sensor that i think can be left unplugged.stick with a 93-95 head and use any of the b18a or b blocks.
im not positive on all this but search it out might help. Also i think a b18a1 block would go for less than the b18b1
<<<im a noob so dont hold me to any of this info just my guess, also make sure you get the ecu or have yours chipped and run a stock ls map and be good to go

I mean I'm building an LS/VTEC right now ut of a USDM OBD0 B18A1 with a JDM B16A OBD1 head. JDM P30 ECU. Very minor mods to make this work, none wiring wise because all of the sensors on the block use the same clips as the OBD1 block I had. With the exception of the engine coolant temp sending unit on the block which will not be used because this was moved to the side of the head in OBD1..

I have a socketed p30 ecu right now so can i buy a base map chip for it and put it in and it will run as a p75 and work on the ls motor or do i have to buy a whole new p75 ecu?

You could have a chip burned to run that motor. The P30 looks for things like VTEC and a knock sensor so all of this would have to be disabled. I read earlier you will eventually build this into an LS/VTEC so when you do this you will be faced with the question "Do I spend the money it cost me to get this P30 converted again just to get it converted back or do I just buy another P30?". I would personally just get a P75 and go from there..
