Default B16 95 Civic LX. Shift linkage a little loose. Cause shift problem??

OK, I have a 95 Civic LX with a B16A and GSR trans. I replaced the roll pin at the trans and that got rid of a lot of slop. Looks like the only slop left now is at the bushing at the bottom of the shifter itself. My question is: Will that small amount of slop (forward/back slop) make the car grind going into second? Kind of feels like when you pull it in that it does not actually engage the gear like at lower rpms. I always fully clutch and have NO problems shifting my wife's VTEC Del Sol or my B16 CRX.... Just this one. You think it's the bushing or the trans itself?

I'm running the magical 50/50 blend of honda mtf and GM SM.
