im doing a built b16a2 bottom end with a gsr head, i used a gsr head gasket and for some odd reason its leaking.. should i use a b16 head gasket? and is autozone b16 head gaskets any good? i cant afford going to honda and buying a $100 head gasket when i can get a FREE b16 head gasket from autozone.

has anyone ever used a autozone head gasket? let me know how was it and if it was anygood. thanks!

If its 3 layer steel its probably alright, if its composite i would stay far away.

i used one one my d15, its a composite. but since i was swapping the motor i didnt care. it held up fine until i pulled it, and its still running strong in a friends car.

yeah thats the thing though.. imma be boosting. i was boosting 20lbs and my timing jumped 4 teeth and bent 5 vavles.. you think that autozone head gasket is good for boost? its gonna be a daily 12 pounds

if youre gonna be boosting that high why are you even thinking of going cheap, just go OEM. dont chance anything.

I haven't used an autozone head gasket, but I've used other gaskets from there and they aren't the greatest, I would go OEM.

The autozone headgasket is made by fel-pro which makes good gaskets. What the issue is with people have headgasket issues is: cooling system issues, bad tunes (lean makes more heat and destroys headgaskets), or not using arp head studs to keep the head from lifting. All B-series headgaskets are steel only the d15's had composite gaskets. Make sure you have your head resurface and block checked for levelness.

yes i use them all the time in fact sometimes I use generic ebay headgaskets. All have held up fine.

yea i did one in my d15 and sold it after fixed and over 50K miles after the change still running.. just a cheapy one also lol..

i boost 10psi daily on my fel pro head gasket with no problems after 20k.

Fel Pro isn't just autozone. Fel Pro is a gasket company. They sell through O'Reilly/CSK, too.

Fel Pro makes good gaskets, but Honda makes much better OEM parts. If you're boosting, go OEM. I wouldn't trust eBay head gaskets to my enemy. It's a head gasket, not a thermostat seal. You know what I mean?

Definitely not the part to cheap out on....at all...especially with boost.

At my autozone they only sell Fel- Pro HG's for a Gs-R/ B16. I have had 2 cometic Head gaskets fail on me already, and the Fel- pro is still holding just fine.
