Put a transmission into a 94 Civic DX and now i have this problem. Car will drove fine for about 5-10 minutes then all of the sudden the transmission slips and then just goes away completely. What has be scratching my head is i can turn on the car (completely remove key) and start it right back up and it runs fine for the short period. If i do not turn it off the car will sit in gear and not move at all. I unplug the lock up solenoids and the car acts the same.

Anyone have anything i can check?

i had this problem with a chevy 3100 trans that slips after a little driving

turns out the trans was overfilled, and when check while it was slipping, the trans fluid was bubbly

I check the fluid while the car wouldnt move and it was good. I can leave the car in gear and get out. The car wont move at all. I turn the key to completely off, then turn on and the car will move. It drives fine otherwise, up until it decides to just completely give out.

Seems i cant catch a break with these transmissions lol. Got this one from some a salvage yard and now this. Guessing i will have to pull this one and maybe 3rd time will be a charm.

Try getting one of those universal transmission coolers from autozone and bypassing the original unit in the radiator. If the problem still persists, you're probably going to have to swap or rebuild the tranny.

sounds like you need to start looking for a new transmission. this is what happens when a honda transmission is burnt up. i dought a cooler will fix anything.

^ yeahx2 had one do the same thing as you describe, bought the car from a guy who had given up on it after buying a new torque converter and other parts.
I ended up replacing the whole trans.

Autos are just unreliable IMO..........
