auto to 5spd swap smog question
was going to do the swap, but heard some discerning news. My friend said I will fail everytime if i do a swap, since they will scan my vin # into the smog machine, and i will get a cel? is that true? any CA guys out there that have done an auto to 5spd and passed smog? let me know... or else i will have to buy a new chasis to throw my engine into.

i have an extra 5spd ecu. I have everything for the 5spd swap. but my mechanic told me i would not pass, because of the vin sticker that they scan with the computer. is that true? smog scares me more than the thought of losing my job lol...

I highly doubt that the technician will fail your car just because you changed the transmission. Its not like that it will affect the smog test result. He will probably just scan the vin # and smog the car as usual. I'll ask one of my friend who works at a smog shop and give you a definate answer tomorrow.
