92 hatch auto transmission replacement - compatibillity question

Default 92 hatch auto transmission replacement - compatibillity question

I have a 92 DX hatch with an auto trans. 3rd gear let go, Im looking to replace it now. Can i just swap in any d series automatic or does it need to be from a certain year/trim/ etc?

correct me if I'm wrong but any d series transmissions should work cause all d series transmissions 92-95 are the same an will interchange...hope it helps

A 96+ should work but I think u might have change the torque converter cause most of them have the 1.6l in them

It needs to come from a '92 - '95 DX/LX the EX transmission is geared higher and will be pretty gutless in OD, it wont throw codes or anything, but it wont work quite right. '96 - '00 transmissions wont work at all, they're controlled differently. One final note, '92 - '94 transmissions are stamped M24A, '95 only is stamped A24A, Note sure what changed, but it my limited experiences with them, I found that the M24As seemed to shift better.
