99 si with b18c. runs great at first then when it warms up it runs like poop

Recently helped a friend deturbo his car and we are at the final stages. but it runs like poop when its warm. he had a vfac II and we took that out among redoing the ignition intake exhaust and lots of other things. it has some cels but it always had. bought some 02s for it thought it would help, but since we got them used trying to save a buck I hope we didnt get screwed. any ideas would be great. I am in the process of search the forums for answer too.

I'd say getting the CEL checked out would be the first step, will probably point you in the right direction.

anyone know a good spot to buy a new 02? and how do you guys feel about the ebay universal 02s that need to be wried in?

i have the same problem and have replaced near enough everything except for the dizzy itself (have replaced cap/rotor) and the FPR / Fuel Pump.
It seems as though it is the dizzy playing up when it gets warm, the Crank position sensor could be iffy and retard timing..

I have replaced the entire dizzy, but have not had a chance to check timing with a timing gun... but I would think that if it is the timing it would run like poop the entire time. right?

oh and that site was nice. got two new densos for 40 each. **** ppl on this site want 40 for a used one. thanks for all of the replies. I will be up there next week working on it. we need to install the new spped sensor and the new 02 sensors and I think that we are either going to have a fixed car or a bigger headache.lol

yes had like 5 codes once we put everything back in. the vss was obvious though with the spedo jumping like a bean. and we got some "semi" used 02s but I am thinking it was a rip.

hey thanks for the website for rockauto. bought two denso 02s from there and installed one of them. the wiring was not bad at all. def worth it to save 80 each.
car runs better, took it to auto zone to get it tested but battery was not charged enough. going to go back later today or tomorrow.
Last time it said needed a new VSS. got one that supposidly was working from a shop here in atl and installed it today. still erratic spedo. And their was not much difference from the one to I took out to the semi new one I put in. is there anything else that would be making the speedo act like that? thanks.

Could turn out to be the VSS loom that sits right under the driver side dash (large grey plug), if thats every so slightly loose or if the connectors within the plug are bad.

so it would be best for me just to try and unplug it and plug it back in?
with that being said I might have a VSS for sale that is in good shape and 3 02 sensors... will post in the right spot later with pics

at first he said they didnt have the part, but then said they had a duralast coolant temp sensor. its 22.99. what do you guys think.

do you know if the ect sensor is the same in the b16 as it is in the b18s? also is fuse 15 the speedo?

okay good news and bad. replaced the ect. it looked like it needed it. so replaced it reset the battery and still have the cel. so to make a long story short I thought that we mixed up the vtec plug and etc so went to switch it back and the new etc does not accept the vtec plug so I am guess it was in the right spot. just to make sure it is a black wire and a black and blue stripe wire that is supposed to go to the etc?
also I dont have that diagram to see which one is 15 if anyone know where it is. if not I am look for it.
found out reverse lights are not working which I hope is a fuse, which the diagram will help.
I also dont think that vtec is kicking in. any good ideas on that?

it was great there was not fuse in 15 or 19. only had one to replace it with but I put it in 15 and the speedo works great now. thanks.
I am going to get some more later and I hope that it will fix the reverse lights.

Now that fuse 15 and 19 are installed, again reset the ECU to see whether the CEL codes return. If so, post the specific code numbers.
ECT -- RED/WHT and GRN/BLK.
VTEC pressure switch -- BLU/BLK and BLK.
ECT -- RED/WHT and GRN/BLK.

I will reset it tomorrow.
oh no... the ect is a red/wht and grn/blk. that could be the reason. we thought it might be mixed up. we tried to switch but with the new ect it wnt let us plug it in. we will try tomorrow though. thanks so much.

hey guys well replaced the ect and found out the vtec wires and the etc wires were switched thanks to ronj@ht. so got those switched back and reset ecu after replacing fuses too. started car and got it to temp and no check engine light. we were pumped. test drove it and after about a mile the damn light came back on again. going to get the code soon. thanks for the help.

p0325 -- Does your engine have a knock sensor? If so, is it connected?
P0505 -- Check for a disconnected vacuum hose or a leaking throttle body or IM gasket.
