99 civic ex d16y8 faster
OK so I'm thinking bout a few options to give my car a little power. Yes I understand b swaps and 5speeds are the best way along with turbo. But I'm not trying to spend all that money and time until my motor or trans quits on me.
Mine is automatic yes.
just asking about these options,
Will a tune make any difference?
Will a modded up aftermarket intake do better?
And a actual performance exhaust make a difference?
And if I got my hands on a turbo would running it under 5psi be ok on stock internals and auto trans? Or just a waste of money on all of it to only gain 30hp or something?

Don't waste any money on "go fast" crap, none will do you any good.
Maintain the engine/trans as recommended per the owner's manual and make sure the rest of the car is safe and reliable.
Save money for an engine swap down the line.

Unless you get a turbo kit under $400 you might as well consider a B20 swap for the same price.
Running your D16Y8 stock with low boost may hold up..or more likely will not.
Want to have fun with it then spend money on suspension: sway bars, coilover's and lower it for a go cart-esque feel, remove power steering belt and see how you like manual steering. The EX auto transmission is geared pretty nicely IMO.. similar to manual other than downshifts.
