98 Hatch: tranny swap, clutch release folk SPRING! how it should sit PICS!
the tranny is sitting outside, i dont know how the little SPRING should sit.

first off, to much grease.
The ball end of the pin goes between the spring wire and the fork.
You need to put the bearing on the fork then install the assembly on the pin and over the shaft at the same time.
Second, to much grease.

the gap between the bearing and shaft.
i tried to install everything without the spring, its works.
when the spring comes in, it does not do anything.
the position of the spring in the pic is correct right?

The spring slides over the ball headed pin that is to the left of the input shaft in the photo. It has the red grease on it. The spring goes into the grove below the ball on the pin.
The spring is not backwards, I just checked our spare trannys in the shed. Both have the spring the same way your's is.
The only difference I see is your spring is not positioned correctly in the slots on your fork. put that top left side into the slot .
The bottom of the spring needs to go through the slot in the bottom of the fork also. fix that
The spring does follow the recess in the fork.

This is correct make sure once you slide everything on and that the spring locks into the grove on the back of the pivotball. Once in place you should be able to push the fork forvard and see the spring catch in the grove. Trust me no this you want that thing locked in the right way. There is no worse feeling then getting the whole car back together stepping on the clutch felling a pop and having no clutch. I lost both the slave and the master cylinder on top of having to pull the trans back out of the car to put the forkk back in place. It took a 3 hour job and made it into a 10 hour one.Good luck

so i tried to bend the spring. it still does not sit right. I turned the spring around, and it snug right in. !!!! it s completely backward from the first picture, OEM honda factory manual illustration (they just have the illustration, no how to)
werd....
