I have a 1998 Honda Civic LX and it just shut off on me this morning as i was driving. I tried to start my car and it sounds like it wants to start but doesn't turn over. I even got a jump and car still wouldn't start. The radio/lights etc work perfectly fine my car just doesnt want to start. Any help please?

How's your fuel looking? Can you start it with starter fluid? Are you getting spark at the plugs?

slomofo, tanya, OP, same exact happened on my 95.

Turns out.. lifting up backseat and wiggling wires to fuel pump and it started up like aint nothing wrong with her.

These are the perfect diagnostic questions for this "crank no start" situation. You very likely have compression (questionable after over heat sometimes,) and you now need spark, fuel, and air to start it. Will not start without these things. (Questioning "air?" Try starting it with throttle closed. Lol.)

If it starts with started fluid, that tells you that you have spark, compression, and air. And that engine will fire. Look to fuel.

Have you ever turned on your car and turned the key for too long? That's how it sounds. It sounds like it wants to start just doesn't fully start.
