I can't get my shift **** off!!!!!!
I know, I know... this sounds easy!! I have had many different shift ***** on my car yada yada and never had any problems getting the shift **** off....
I now have a DC shifter with a DC shift ****. I am trying to get it off so I can put my stock **** back on for the winter, but I can't get that sucker off for the life of me!
I have tried almost everything! My hands are killing me!!
Has this happened to anyone else? I don't know what the deal is but that thing is on there like none other...
Does anyone have any good tips or tricks that might help me get this thing off???
Any held would be much appreciated!!
Would it be easier to get the **** off if I let the car warm up so the shifter warms up etc? I can't think of anything else!!

Yeah i would just warm it up. It's either that or the torch. We wouldnt want that. Goodluck getting it off though.

Maybe wrap a rag around the shifter, and use large pliers or channel locks to get a grip on it.

As long as it's not welding on or anything, you should be able to just twist it off. But it could be different, I don't have first-hand experience with that shifter and shift ****.

get one of the fubber grip things that tighten and don't move. I have one stuck on there and used of the rubber things(can't think of their name) and it came right off.

Letting it warm up before you try and remove it shouldn't work. When metal heats up it expands, and that would make it tighter. Have you tryed putting a rag around it. Maybe you could use a couple of rags and a pipe wrench. Put the pipe wrench on the shift **** and turn that bit@h. It sounds like you cross threaded it when you put it on.

I think craftsman sell a tool that has a rubber band type thing going through it where the harder you try to tighten or loosen something it grabs harder... I would try that... I think it's one of those multi-use tools, where you can use it to take off tops of jars n' stuff....

Re: I can't get my shift **** off!!!!!! (Infinity_Racer)
Thanks for all the help guys!!
I still am not sucessful but I tried getting it off with a belt and vice grips... didn't work!!!
This thing is killin me!!
I twisted it about a half turn but it's not goin any further. I swear I'm not that weak and both my hands are blistered from trying to get that stupid thing off!!
I noticed little pieces of metal are coming off when I try to turn it. I think I am goin to have to cut that sucker off...

You might have cross-threaded the **** to the shifter. It happened to me once, I used vise grips to take it off, didn't work ended up making it really lose that it just spun around but didn't come off. I had to resort to cutting the **** off, and having to buy a new short shifter and ****.
