Default 98 civic ex/D15B VTEC - What ECU?

So I got a 98 civic ex that I got around last X'mas It has a D15B Vtec from a 95 ex engine in it I need to know what computer is this supposed to use? it's an automatic and still running on the stock ecu it came with cause the previous owner I know the computer is the problem but am having a hard time figuring out what computer Lol... p28 or p08 or is those ones even the right one for the engine at all? I'm not looking to make it a race car (it's a 4 door) I just hate the bogging it dose going up hills when I know that this jdm motor has more ***** then that lol no it's not a 3 stage or an e or just a D15B it has just the single vtec silinoid (I'm sure I spelt that wrong) and the previous owner had it installed by a shop he got the engine from pic a part or whatever they call it out here in Vegas lol (I'm originally from California) anyways any and all help that I can get will be much appreciated thank you and hope to get some answers oh BTW anyone need a 37820-pm8-a030 ecu let me know I obviously found out the hard way that this was not the correct one lol

Likely it still has the original 1998 OBDII ECU. The easiest swapout of a bad engine is just to put another similar block + head engine assembly in and use all the manifolds and controls that came with the car. There is nothing wrong with that setup it should run OK.

Usually if the car runs with no OBD codes the ECU is OK. Dog-slow performance but no code will occur if the cam or spark timing is wrong so that would be the first thing to check.

Yeah it's the stock obd2 ecu... It throwing a misfire code for every cylinder and then a random misfire code when the check engine light turns on... I've done a gsr swap with a friend that went to u.t.I. in the past (we don't talk anymore) so I know it's just a matter of the correct ecu I just never messed with D series before so idk what I can do... I would just do a b series swap but I can't afford to do that right now I just need to have it running good enough to be able to drive from Vegas to Indiana lots of hills don't want the bogging and hp lag...

Check timing. If it really is misfiring you should go through the ignition system check out the coil cap rotor wires and plugs. Again there's no reason you couldn't use a D15B in an OBD2 setup. A lot of people convert to OBD1 so they can turbo and chip etc but that is not necessary for daily driving.

with an automatic, you're stuck using an obd-2 ecu.

Its all good I'm sure I'll be okay after I do a tune up... I was just about to do a tune up and oil change tomorrow anyways lol... I think the plugs that are in it aren't the right ones cause the plug wires got stuck on the plugs so good that the wires ripped out when I went to remove them to pull the plugs... the plug reading look to be normal just I think these plugs are a little taller then I am use to seeing ngk plugs for a civic to be... dude that I got the car from did speak broken English and had no clue that it was a complete different engine lol he thought I did a major thing when he noticed that I installed my side markers lol... (it's a neighbor down the road) it's okay though everything else checked out fine still a lot I want to do to it... if I had my way I'd go all out with it n do a ls-vtec swap integra suspention etc... to it but it's just a family car till I get the wife an Odyssey that knowing me I'll be doing something to lol
