'97 LX won't start!
In an effort to save my sister $300 of shop fees, I did some maintence on her 97 LX. Dist cap, rotor, plugs and air filter were all that were replaced. She drove the car home trouble free, after sitting overnight it refused to start! It has strong spark, plenty of air, fuel, compression unknown as of yet. I removed the valve cover and inspected the timing belt, which is intact, alignment unknown. After spraying starter fluid onto the air cleaner, the car started and ran rough at best, until the ether was gone. Subsequent attemtps with starter fluid yeild no results. The plugs have been pulled and are wet/smell like gas (but still fire) after my latest attempts to start it. I have been suspecting the timing belt jumped a gear, but I have always driven cars with metal timing chains or no camshaft, so I have little experience with timing belts. The only other thing I have been unable to find is the firing order; the Haynes manual is very non-descriptive about it. Can anyone offer any tests, checks, FSM excerpts, ideas, etc?
Thank you in advance!
