So another issue i have with the EK is that the trunk will not lock upon closing. What I mean by that is that when you drop the trunk to close, it will hit the bottom and bounce back up. Using a key will not help either, but if i were to go into the car, and pull the trunk latch up while i have someone else close the trunk, it properly locks. Oh and pulling the trunk latch while the trunk is locked does not unlock the trunk either... Some extra helpful things i can add is that the wire connected to the trunk latch is tight enough, pulling the latch makes the metal mechanism pull all the way. Any help would be very appreciated!

you need a new latch assembly. open trunk and close the latching mechanism by hand if you can unlock the mechanism with your key then you just need to adjust it or the bottom if not $20 piece at a junkyard

Did you put a new weather strip on?

Try adjusting the strike plate, it is the metal loop on the base of the trunk, there are 2 screws, move it up or down tighten down and see if it works.
