Hey everyone,

I'm having an issue with my passenger door lock on my 2dr civic with power door locks. The door isn't locking with the alarm and when I try to lock it with the key the lock just turns left and right freely and the door latch on the inside is stuck in the open position. I was told that its the lock assembly, is this correct? If so which part do I purchase from majestic Honda?

Does the door lock from the inner handle?

Negative its pretty much stuck in the open position and atempting to close with it would pretty much break that latch

The latch may be bad, but first carefully inspect the rods and their connections to the latch, holder, and inner handle.

I have the same issue (lock assembly broke) and im going to the salvage yard to find another one. The car that needs fixing is a 98 civic dx (4 door), can the door lock only come from a 4 dr or can i take one off a coupe as well. Im assuming i have to stay within the 96-00 model years and would an accord from the same years work as well or do i only have to find civics?

Sorry for thread jacking, this issue happend today and i need it get it fixed asap!

Replaced it today with a coupe lock assembly. Had to change out the outer rod handle with the one from the 4dr to not get in the way of the window guide. Also since its from a coupe the lock rod dosent work on the 4dr. I assume with some more effort you could bend the lock rod to make it work, but for the mean time it works.

I picked up a lock assembly and actuator off ebay to have on hand. This project is going down in the am I'll let you know how it goes.

Turns out that I didnt need the lock mechanism after all. The rod that connected to the lock cyllinder popped off. I reconnected and secured it and everything is working again. The lock mechanism and acuator is up for grabs if anyone needs it.
