95 Civic A/C Blew fuse, killed fan... Tried a few things, still hot air.
I have searched and am still stuck!
On my stock 95 civic ex:
I got a rock stuck in my condenser fan. It blew a fuse. I found the rock, took it out, replaced the fuse. Everything was good and the a/c blew cold for about a day.
Then my fan died. I checked it with an ohm meter and direct 12v. It was dead. I replaced it with a salvage yard fan which tested good with meter and 12v.
A/C is still off though. Now when I push the A/C button, the light comes on, the engine idles up, but the condenser fan does NOT come on, and the compressor does NOT engage.. I do get power to the condenser fan plug, but the fan still does not turn.
Oddly, the power at the condenser fan is only present when the engine is running, and not when the key is just turned to the "on" position. And again, even when the engine runs and the condenser fan plug does have power, the fan will not run.
Any ideas? This 90º+ temp and 80%+ humidity in Oklahoma is awful!

If you run power and ground wires directly from the battery to the condenser fan plug, does the fan run?
Also test whether the black ground wire terminal in the condenser fan connector plug has continuity to body ground.

Yeah, the fan runs with direct 12v. Just checked and the black wire on the fan plug does have continuity to the grounds, yes.

Some information that you're providing MUST not be right.
1) The fan works
2) The fan gets battery voltage
3) The fan has good ground
If all of these^ were true, then the fan would work fine, but it doesn't.

That is what I do not get, ha! I was reading your FAQs and tested the fuses with a voltage drop, just to make sure, but the fuse is still good. 14v running 12v key on. I am stumped!

Hey, I just checked the condenser fan plug again and noticed two things... I checked it with the positive lead of the voltmeter on the blue and black wire and put the black lead of the voltmeter to the body ground. I noticed that I am getting - voltage... is that normal? And it is only -9.8v now...

Thats because the fan motor is fucked man. If its not sucking air in at a high rate than the fan motor is not doing its job.

^^^ This..
Do the tests again. This time poke the VOM leads on the 2 terminals inside the connector. Do you get 12v? If you do, clean your connectors.

Re: 95 Civic A/C Blew fuse, killed fan... Tried a few things, still hot air.
Back at it again.... Now I am trying to troubleshoot with the 92-95 service manual. I believe the manual has the r-12 system printed, rather than the hfc-134a. My car is the 95 and I believe they switched over in 94.?. Anyone know if I might be right? If so, any clue where I can get a manual with the correct wire colors?
Ex: on page 22-7 of the manual, it says the condenser fan relay should have 4 wires. Blu/Yel, Wht, Blu/Red, and Blu/Blk. Mine has the Wht and Blu/Blk, but then on the other side of the relay plug, I have one socket with two yellowish wires, and the other socket has one yellowish wire.
