i believe that the ecu is in limp home mode. you prolly have a bad sensor. pull the code and see what the issue is. oh and what ecu are you using?

make sure your map snesor and tps sensor plugs are mixed up...try switching them.

Sounds to me like limp mode, did you try chipping your ecu yourself or mess with anything inside of it?

i like how you just jumped into it and said four words that have no defining information to justify why you feel he should do that. You order him to do something worse than our local ASE certified's do! try explaining it a little better.

You should check your sensors as stated before. O2 sensor is bad in my buddies 01 civic, and it has entered the "limp mode" so he cannot rev past 3.5 either

There is a check engine light on. So the ECU is trying to tell you that there's a sensor issue.

WTF are all these people talking about with "change out the ECU" and "It's the ECU" and "THE ECU IS A WITCH!!"

Also, Honda has a very liberal "limp mode" in older cars. It's hard to make it go into "limp mode". An O2 sensor will not send an OBD1 ECU or even a lot of Honda OBD2 ECUs into limp mode. There has to be some sort of REALLY serious sensor to do that. Usually, it goes into limp mode because it cannot run properly at all without the sensor. I highly doubt that an O2 sensor would send a 01 honda into limp mode. The O2 sensor is inactive under WOT, or even partial throttle angle...or in open loop. That's besides the point.

I'd say the most likely cause is that you got sensors mixed up. The TPS and MAP plugs are the same. You may have plugged those into each other. There are also a host of other plugs that are the same and are in a nearby location to each other.

VTEC and CTS are right by each other.
Knock and PS pressure and IAC are somewhat close to each other.
Make sure your IAT is plugged in correctly.

Check a wiring diagram. Make sure you have the right colors going to the right sensors.

You most likely have the MAP and TPS mixed up. That would be a very likely cause of your issue.

Check that. Get back to us if it fixed it.

its a p28 and right now when i drive it im only getting like 15 mpg s is there like a fuel preassure sensor somewhere that would cause the fuel pump not to stop pumping?? what would cause this?

No. The fuel pump does not have an affect on fuel delivery. The FPR is contolled mechanically. This would not directly set a check engine light if the FPR was bad since the ECU does not monitor it.

One more time. Find out WHAT the check engine light is for. Check the how to flash a CEL thread sticky.

I'm pretty sure you have your MAP and TPS plugs switched up. Or your VTEC and CTS plugs switched up. Either would cause SHITTY gas mileage. But only the MAP/TPS plugs being switched up would cause the rev limiter.

Did you check those?

I love when people have these serious problems and neglect the most simple, effective ways to diagnose their problems:

get the damn code fool!

i agree completely with bserious. when i did my first swap i mixed the tps and map sensor plugs and it wouldnt rev past 3k. all you people are obsessed with limp mode...there is one guy (i dont think he posted on here) that says EVERYTHING electrical is in limp mode. its something simple im telling you...check your code.
