I just finish swapping a 92 ls 1.8 motor in my eg8 the motor runs good starts good the only proproblem is that it blows a huge cloud of white smoke and its wasting a lot of gas I'm thinking headgasket anyone?

Sounds like a head gasket, is there oil in the radiator/or bubbles? Is there coolant in the oil? Does the exhaust smell sweet like burning coolant? Have you looked at the spark plugs? Do they have rust deposits on them?

Iv replaced the headgasket,cap,rotor, n spark plugs, n motor is still blowing white smoke n its a big *** cloud. Could timing be a problem?

You really think so bro? Damn man the thing that sucks is that I don't wanna pull that motor out after I just put it in. But if it really is high compression here I come.

white = coolant
blue = oil
black = rich
When you get on it. you can smell it.. sweet smell = coolant
if it smells like burning, nasty lol.. gas or oil, they are pretty close in smell.
check ur bumper for black **** all above the exhaust, good way to tell. could also be carbon deposits, drive a few hundred miles, check your oil every few days, see if it drops. check everywhere for coolant and oil leaks.. could be a multitude of problems... I'm in the same boat as you.

I smell a sweet smell kinda n the smoke is light blue wen its idleing. Wen I changed the headgasket I cleaned the pistons but not the cumbustion chamber it did have a lot of carben on the cumbustion chamber. So what you guys think drive for a couple more miles or just change those rings. The best way I heard to clean the carben it to rev the motor 2 gran n spray some water but not a lot.

Oil burning in the cylinders might also be caused by leaking valve stem seals or a bad head gasket. Did you check whether the head and block were level before installing the new head gasket?

87 psi is the normal... just bought 3 ls motors and mine are fresh rebuilds, they hold 95 or higher and hold it for more than 10 minutes...
ford uses an oil in the cyilnder to expand the piston rings under high pressure, it would be something to explore.
