92 EG Radio OEM Radio Swap Issues
Okay so my eg had the stock radio but was missing the volume ****. So instead of purchasing a new **** for $16 I bought what I thought was a very similar radio for $14 for the sole purpose of putting the **** on! However the **** doesn't fit.
My next move was to use this new cheap honda radio as my replacement. However it brings up the anti theft code problem. I bought it on ebay and have no code and can't get the special numbers I need from the 1 + 6 trick. What should I do and will this radio even work in my EG? Here is the serial no. E50352859E
The only differences between my old radio and new: the DIN socket on the rear for cd player compatibility, the Anti Theft red light, and no tuning lever around the volume ****.
My original radio still works fine and doesn't require a code but now I would like to get the one I purchased to work!

Urm. You never once said what the radio you bought actually came out of so I don't know how we're supposed to help you. Similar doesn't necessarily mean compatible. You better contact the seller to get the code.

I have no idea to be honest but it's the exact same dimensions as my stock and looks about 98% same on the front. He doesn't have a code for me

Here is the replacement one I purchased I circled in red the minor differences between it and my stock eg player. Around the volume **** there is no fader paddle, the bass treble fade ***** pop out on this unit but not the eg, and the anti theft light of course! On the back it is also compatible with an aux. tape or cd plug in...

It's definitely a '92 - '95 civic radio, I can tell you that much. If you take the serial number to your local honda dealer they might be able to get you the code.

Serial number at the dealership. I used to do like 20 a day. Although you may have to give up a few bucks since they aren't technically supposed to just give them out as they could have been stolen, etc. Should be a 5 digit code. Although I hope that the you have did not have a factory amplifier as it would not work for you in that case.

A honda tech user helped me out and gave me a code, I will try it out in a little while! See if this experiment works!
