99-00 Si would make it basically plug and play minus a few things (IABs, IAT, wire in secondary 02). What ecu do you plan on using?

btw i forgot to include the fact that the tranny is automagic so will the 96-99 P72 work? or do i have to find an ecu for an auto GSR

It definitely is not a simple bolt-in swap. The B series automatic transmissions are noticeably larger than their standard counterparts, and installing them involves making custom mounts, as well as modifying the frame of the car. If you insist on doing it, you would be best served using the harness and ECU from the car the motor and transmission came out of.
By "best served", what I really mean is "you don't have another option".

I have a 1997 civic dx hatch with a 1997 jdm itr b18c in it. I want to pass emissions here in georgia so I've swapped to a US intake with purge solenoid, US b18c5 with crank sensor and swapped vtec solenoid a to a US one that has the sensor on it. I've also changed the wiring harness to a 1997 ex harness. The top and bottom ends a freshly rebuilt and now my local shop that is installing the engine is stumped to wire it. What wring changes need to be made with this setup to connect all needed sensors and which ecu should I run to pass emissions. I own the stock jdm ecu that went with the engine, an ecu from a 1996 gsr and a p28 that is "chipped" supposedly . Any help would be greatly appreciated

It should mention wiring in the 2nd o2 sensor when using a obd2b car with non vtec, and staying obd2b with the motor.

This is my first post on HondaTech, i've found great information so far.
I have a built GSR in an OBDIIb ek (9:1 comp ratio). I need to pass emissions in Ontario so the stock IM and exhaust is on and all sensors are wired up except for the IAB and Knock Sensor. Now can I use the P75 B18B ecu that doesn't look for the IAB or KS for emissions, all i need to do is drive a bit to reset monitors so I could care less about lack of vtec.

You can get an obd2a ecu and buy the conversion harness. If the state needs to plug into the obd2 scanner than it will work, if you need to pass visual inspection I'm not sure how you'll pass with a b-series in the bay.

Any OBDI ecu's will not connect with the scan tool and fail emissions.
I'm just cheap, had no knock sensor and their expensive. Ended up getting one of a D16y8 from the wrekers for $3, and i'll use the original obd2 ecu. I read the IAB won't throw a code unless you hit a high revs where it activates.

first off great write up.
second i have done the swap with my 98 LX and am using the p2p ecu. i have repined everything correctly, and it idles fine around 1500 rpm. when i put it in gear and let out the clutch to move, it stalls on me. would not having a knock sensor do this or is that just for vtec?
any help is greatly appreciated.

Can you just lay out a 99-00 Civic Si engine wire harness and tell me which plug with what color wires is what? Im swapping a H2B into my 99 Civic LX and using a 99 si harness but I dont know what plug/wires go to what let alone know what plug is what besides the obvious injectors dizzy etc but some plugs all look the same.

Re: 92-00 Honda Engine Swap Wiring Guide VTEC AND NON VTEC
i have a question. just recently acquired a 96 civic with a d15b7 swap in it. wasn't running at all when i got it. Finally got it to run, a couple of wires were loose and disconnected. it wont stay running for more than 5 seconds. you have to feather gas to get it to stay on, but even then it wont rev past 2000 rpms... i noticed the ecu in the car is from a 96 civic.
(37820-p2e-315) i also noticed he followed the diagrams for re-pinning and splicing of the wires. (iacv, iat, fuel injectors) Aren't you supposed to use an obd1 ecu?
also getting codes (9) cyp sensor, (14) iacv, (20) electrical load detector , (65) secondary cat
Thanks in advance

Re: 92-00 Honda Engine Swap Wiring Guide VTEC AND NON VTEC
Sounds like they just swapped the entire engine in without using the appropriate intake and exhaust manifolds. If your area doesn't use the scanner for emissions you'd be best off getting an OBD1 P07 ECU. It'll at least take care of your IACV (considering the previous owner wired it in correctly) and secondary 02 codes. Also not sure why you have code 9 but that's an issue with your distributor, when you should have a code for CKF due to the B7 not having that sensor.
If you need to run the OBD2 ECU your going to at least need the following, Y7 throttle body if you don't already have it and use that IACV, a secondary 02 plugged in or after your cat, diagnose your code 9 and bypass the CKF. Not sure about the ELD but it could be bad or you have some wiring issues.
