So the a/c in the em1 is not really pushing out cold air anymore. I was going to recharge it but I didnt know what type of freon bottles to get and how much I can actually put in it. I read something about r134a is good but if its not what is already in then you have to bleed all the lines and oil them. I dont want to do all of that just get one of those refill/recharge kits at like autozone and boost the cold air up just a little bit so my back does not stick to the seat

I bought the car used and the guy before took off all labels. This might be a dumb question but there is only one place to add it to or is there a hot line and a cold line? If so how do I tell the difference?

You should do it right, take it to a shop evac and recharge it.

The kits you will never know how much you put it. You also risk getting air into the system.

Don't add refrigerant unless you know what the problem is and you know what you are doing. If you don't, have a reputable shop do it.

Refrigerant is added to the low side port with the engine running.

They are normally marked with a blue or green cap with a large "L" on it. Again, don't do it if you don't know how. You can actually overcharge the system and cause it to blow hotter. A reputable shop will have the proper equipment to charge your AC system the proper way: through a vacuum. That means evacuating all refrigerant (r134a), regular air, and dirt and particles and things of that sort. All of these things can cause sub-par performance with an AC system.

Just for the record, you, a shop, or anyone should NEVER put anything in your car other than r134a refrigerant. You run a huge risk when you put a different type of refrigerant in your car than what was originally intended.

so those kits that have those guages on them do not really work? how much around do shops cost to add? I know there are no leaks and everything is working properly its just low

No, they do not. You don't know how much refrigerant you have, how much refrigerant it is adding, and what kind of vacuum you are pulling and if it is consistent. Take it to a shop and have it done the right way.

You'll probably pay around a hundred bucks to get it done the right way and have them measure the vacuum over a long time period, but it will be well worth it when your car is pumping out ~40F air.

That is gauge is for the low side, you need 2 gauges one for low and one for high side to get the right reading.

Depending on the shop could be as low as 100 buck to 160 that is in NJ.

you know of any good places in nj? either central or northern even. Live in centralnear six flags but travel north up by hackensack almost every weekend

Most places can do a simple recharge, I would call some shops and get quotes. Even a local honda dealer would be competitive with some shops.
