2000 Civic - Noise caused by crack in Exhaust Manifold?
I recently began to hear a mechanical noise only when accelerating. The mechanic listened and said it was probably my exhaust manifold and that I could replace it any time I wanted.
I've taken a picture and included it here. Would a crack like this cause any noise upon acceleration? Also, is it truely something that is not an immediate concern?

Re: Exhaust Manifold 2000 Civic
Since it only makes this noise upon acceleration - wouldn't this rule out the exhaust manifold? I'd assume that if it was the manifold crack, it'd be a constand noise. It sounds like ball bearings rattling around (like a mini semi-truck) when I hit the gas.

Think you would loose performance due to the hot air warming up your motor compartment. But with the heat-shield it shouldn't be noticable with your butt-meter

That is a very common problem with that particular manifold design. If you are willing, go to your local pick n pull and find a decent used one, which should be pretty cheap.
New at the dealer, it's a pricey part
