2000 b16a2 oil leak
just bought the car and couple weeks ago open my hood and found out oil leaking from the valve cover breather/tube/hose ect.... not valve cover gasket..
i put long hose and at the end put a small breather filter and drove it for hour came back home check and the filter soak of oil...
it could be valve seals???
any idea guys????
thanks.....

That happens. It's just something you have to deal with. I usually run a long hose down and passed the transmission so as to keep the oil off of the motor while not worrying about a filter.

It's not really a problem. There is oil underneath the valve cover and it is bound to get through that hole when you are revving a motor to 8k. Use the same hose but don't put the filter at the end. How much oil are you talking about here? There is going to be oil regardless, but you make it sounds like its gushing.

I think I know what might be wrong!
Is that valve cover stock or is powdercoated?
If is is modified, the baffle underneath may have been removed so the whole thing could have a complete layer all the way around, including under the valve cover.
(happened to me-the shop removed the baffle to powdercoat it completely so it wouldn't have an edge to start chipping from)
My solution:
An oil catch can between the valve cover and the intake.

Does that Mugen Valve Colver have a baffle on the underside?
If not, then that's what your problem is.
DO NOT try welding a baffle onto it because if it falls onto the valves....yeah, nuff said.
^^;
Just go with a catch can and keep an eye on your oil level
:3
I also found this post from a few years ago on the subject:

Sooo...check dat valve cover!

Re: 2000 b16a2 oil leak
Hrm, if there is the baffle on the valve cover...the amount of oil leaking out may be solely due to the high-revving nature of the motor tossing oil all over the place under there.
Catch can time!
(or less crazy revving time, but where's the fun in that? XD; )
And no, it has nothing to do with the valve seals!
If your valve seals were going bad, you'd be BURNING oil, NOT leaking oil from the breather fitting.
In any case, the real reason that filter is soaked with oil is due to gravity:
I'm assuming that long hose with the filter on it was hung down off the back of the motor, right? (not sure where else it'd go)
Normally, any oil that gets into that breather hose would have to travel slightly up hill to the intake, fighting gravity all the way and generally not causing too many problems.
But with that hose hanging down like that, there's nothing to stop that oil from leaking down there and soaking that filter!
I hope this solves your little oil mystery ^^
