1999 Hoda Civic EX - Code P1399
Hi,
I have a 1999 Honda Civic EX with 140k miles. Sometimes in the mornings, the car doesn't start normally, but if I keep the ignition key turned, it will start. However, for the first few miles, there is a hesitation when I hit the gas. After the first few miles, everything is back to normal. Today, for the first time, I noticed the engine light blink and then go off. This happened twice, and at both times, the car was "hesitating". I scanned for OBDII codes, and got P1399.
I recently replaced all the spark plugs, and do not have this problem if I start the car and keep it idling for 10-15 mins in the morning.
Regards
Nick

Thanks for the fast response
As I mentioned before, I have changed the spark plugs recently. I will go ahead and replace the spark plug wires as well.
Can you give me more info about cap, rotor, base timings etc? Info like what they are and how to replace will be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Nick

The cap and rotor are parts of your distibutor. The cap is the black cap on the outside of the dizzy, and the rotor is on the inside of the diizzy. You will see the rotor when you take off the cap. Basicly what you're looking for is any corrosion, worn out contacts, signs of arcing etc. Base timing is checked with a timing light. Spec for your vehicle is 12 degrees +/- 2 degrees i believe.

Basic forum etiquette lesson incoming.
First off, never bump a 4 year old, dead thread.
Second off, don't bump a thread asking for help when you haven't bothered trying things already mentioned in said thread.
Third off, when joining a new forum, do not post in said forum until you have read the rules, as well as any and all stickies in the subforum you're planning on posting in.
This is all super simple stuff. Follow those three steps, then try again.
