Default 1999 civic ex turn signals

hey guys, im new here, i have a 1999 civic ex. i dont know why but when i have my turn signal on, and hit the brakes, whichever way i had the signal on stops and all four of my turn signal bulbs light up and stay lit, and so do the two arrows on the cluster. and when i let off the brake the turn signal blinks again. anyone have any ideas? thanks

Did you recently replace any front or rear light bulbs? The brake lights and some taillights/parking lights are double filament bulbs and, if they are replaced with single filament bulbs, one can have the problems that you are experiencing.

I infact have never replaced any of them, i got the car about a month ago and have asked around about the problem but never looked into. I just find it annoying when i see a cop i have to like hit my brakes and let off constantly so they know my blinkers work lol....and i know the front bulbs are dual filaments...for parking lights, then the turn signal....my left front parking light is out, but blinker works, and it also stays constantly lit when on the brakes. maybe it isnt a dual filament bulb in there? im gonna check the bulbs when i can get to it and let you know..anyone else experience this problem? and also if it was just a wrong bulb, then why would the arrows on my gauge cluster be lighting up? since ive had the car ive heard things from friends as maybe there isnt a good enough ground being made, one of my buddies told me that the tail light clips are 96-98, would that do anything and if so how do i go about fixing it? so frustrating

Yes, a bad ground can cause this type of problem, but installation of the wrong bulb types and bad wiring are much more common causes.
