Default 1998 Civic EX Cylinder Misfire Troubleshooting - Help Please

Hello all,

CEL codes 071, 072, 074 (no 073).

First symptom, car bogged a bit while accelerating at around 50 mph - no CEL. Gradually bogging & rough idle got worse & then light came on.

I did not check right away, and when I did today, pulled the codes above.

Car currently has 168k miles & is all stock & mostly OEM parts.

At 152k miles (28 months ago), I replaced ignition coil, cap & rotor & plugs.

I'm due to replace plugs & will do today. Wires are probably overdue too, but I would prefer to diagnose rather than just start replacing parts.

I came across the diagnostic advice below, but wanted to check with the Honda-tech community for:

advice on most likely sources of the problem.

advice for the most efficient diagnostic strategy.
.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts & help.
Best,
David

Take cap off and look for cracks or burns in the cap rotor or coil. You can't tell much by looking at wires though.

Start by inspecting and gapping the spark plugs and installing new Honda plug wires. Then go from there.
