1997 1.4i Civic Engine upgrade ?
Ive just joined honda-tech forums so HI everyone!
Recentally got a 1997 1.4i Tornado civic and i love it...
But, I want to increase engine performance ? Is there much else available apart from an Induction kit and/or a Sports Exhaust of which i could modify the engine to increase the overal BHP ?
I'm aware of putting new engines in (i.e VTEC VTIDOHC) but i want to keep the 1.4i engine in there due to insurance
Any comments would be highly Appreciated
thanks

They're only available in Europe.
I don't know much about the civic engines in Europe brother, I bet there's a civic forum there that could help you out.
Have you tried searching?
For displacement that small it would probably be you best bet to swap in a bigger engine or boost the one that you have. Anything else would be a waste of time/money.

I don't know a lot about modifying the 1.4s, but maybe some of people on this forum can help.

Are you sure? I don't know of a Tornado Blue and I have a photos of several Tornados in Matador Red Pearl too.
Edit: Further searching has told me that the 1997 Honda Civic 1.4i Tornado came in both Matador Red (a dark maroon color) and Tahitian Green Pearl.
These are the European Civic colors for 1997.
B-74P = Adriatic Blue Pri Metallic
BG-28P = Tahitian Green Pearl
G-82P = Cypress Green Pearl
NH-503P = Granada Black Metallic
NH-538 = Frost White
NH-575M = Thunder Grey
NH-583M = New Vogue Silver Metallic
PB-74P = Dark Amethyst Pearl
R-81 = Milano Red
R-93P = Matador Red Pearl
I'm not exactly sure where your color code would be printed, but in the US it's in the driver's side door jamb.
Here is an example of a 1.4i Tornado for those interested. The top one is Tahitian Green Pearl and the one at the bottom is Matador Red Pearl.
