1994 honda civic ex shakes at low speeds 1-3 gear 2500-3500 rpm only on acceleration
I have a problem and not really sure what it is. My car has started to shake under acceleration. It is noticable in 1-3 gear from around 2500-3500 rpms. I have a 5 speed.
If I accelerate slowly the shaking isn't really noticable. I have new cv joints, and the motor and transmission mounts are good.
It makes a clunking sound when I have the steering wheel turned all the way to the left and accelerate.
I was thinking maybe the ignition coil or clutch or other suspension problem. I can't find anything that looks wrong with the suspension and I have replaced both the cv joints twice in three months.

I have jacked it up to see if there is any play. The wheel bearings seem fine and nothing else wiggles. The axles will rotate a small amount, but that is all.
I replaced the coil which did nothing.
It is mostly noticable when the car is warm and has been driven. If I let the car sit a couple of days it drives great until it warms up.
It is especially noticable when driving uphill and not so much down.

Still haven't been able to figure out the problem. I've replaced both axles.
There is no shaking when accelerating slowly. It only shakes when trying to accelerate quickly especially uphill.

When you say shaking do you mean as in the way a severely imbalanced wheel/tire feels? Does your steering wheel shake as well? Or is your car jerking like an ignition misfire?

Not as severe as a bent wheel. I guess it could be an imbalance of the tire or wheel, but why doesn't it shake when I accelerate slowly? I think it could be called jerking. I've checked the plugs, the wires and cap and rotor are new. I put in a new coil and the problem persists.

Finally had some more time to look at this. I decided to try the cheapest and easiest thing, replace the passenger side axle the third time. I guess third times a charm for the autozone axle. It it driving good again.
