*Please Help* OBD2 GSR into EJ1
Hello fellow HT members!
I just purchased a wrecked/virgin 97 GSR. I'm planning to swap it into my 94 Civic EX coupe. I know this swap has been done many times before, but I've looked all over online and couldn't find the main answers I was looking for.
I need help for those expertees who know these swaps from inside out. I have several questions below:
Should I just reuse the 97 GSR engine harness or should I use my 94 Civic EX engine harness?
The OBD2 distributor wiring should be fine or should I convert it to OBD1 dizzy wiring?
Are their any parts I can reuse/anything I need to swap out?
Do I stick with my virgin P28 or find a OBD1 P72 ecu?
IF I'M MISSING ANYTHING, PLEASE FILL ME IN. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!

Ex harness
obd1 dizzy (z6 plug is diff than ur normal obd1 dizzy plugs)
chipped p28 with p72 base map (no iab's or knock sensor)
94-01 b-series shift linkage
order new mounts for the swap (innovative, avid, hasport, etc)
94-01 b-series axles
i make my own conversion plugs for dizzy swaps but u can order them if need be

Wait u r using the factory manifold so ull need the iab signal. Get an obd1 p72 n wire in the Iab's n knock sensor. That'll b ur easiest route

Use the GS-R harness. It's a direct plug in and you can keep the distributor, alternator and injectors you have now. You will have one extra plug at the passenger's side shock tower only because it's a GS-R. This plug is for the evap purge solenoid. If you don't have any emissions testing simply leave it hanging and repin pin A20 to A17 at the ECU to wire the IABs. Use an OBD1 ECU (P72 if you want the IABs to function)
If you have a complete donor car you might as well swap the brakes and suspension over at the same time since all of it bolts up. You will however need a proportioning valve from a '94 - '97 Integra RS (non ABS) and master cylinder and brake booster from the same, or a master cylinder from a '90 - '91 Civic EX retaining the original brake booster. If you happen to have one of the rare EXs with ABS you can the MC and brake booster from the GS-R (you wont need a prop valve in this scenario but you may need to swap the ABS unit)
It's not.

The plugs r the same, that was my fault I was thinking of something diff. I've always used the harness from the car and wired anything that was missing but if this cat ^ has done it different n it works then follow his advice.

Re: *Please Help* OBD2 GSR into EJ1
Correct other than you'll have to get the P28 chipped and tuned. Also you wont have IAB functionality with a P28 even if you do chip it. A lot of guys run aftermarket intake manifolds and don't care but if you retain the stock manifold it's nice to have the IABs functional.

This is something ive been wanting to do. but I've noticed that the 2000 ex coupe has the harness connectors inside the firewall instead of being outside of the firewall like on the EG'S. someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
