Any tips for installation on a remote start for a 2000 civic EX? I have never installed remote start but I have done other difficult electrical fabrication/modifications and wiring is my middle name. Car is my winter work car, 2000 1.6 d16y8 with 4 doors.

Curious why remote start? have you considered a S2000 push start conversion?

This civic is my "work car" / "drive in the winter car". I prefer a real key over push to start. I have 4 cars, one of which has push button start and I like that the least.

I have a 10 minute walk from my office to the car so i want it to be warm when I get there.

I hear ya! you should post up pics of the process/ write up, maybe it will become a sticky if its made good enough! Someone in the future might want a step by step on how to do the remote start !

Not hard, just make sure you hide your wires. And yes, remote start does wonders for those living in winter conditions.

Install is complete. This was fairly simple and straight forward- I was way too nervous about researching beforehand, but it's better to be over prepared, then under prepared.

I connected the ignition, accessory, starter, and constant hot wires underneath the main part of the dash as they feed to and from the steering column. I also connected parking lights, door lock input and door unlock input from the factory keyless module. I took the AC waveform from the pickup coil diagnostic connector and ran it to the tach signal feed on the remote start unit. I needed the switched side of the brake pedal switch as well. The whole point of this was also connecting the drone-mobile cellular device so I could start the car from any distance via my android phone. I do not use "zip ties" to install modules underneath the dash so I designed 2 brackets with freecad. I then 3d printed them out of ABS for use under the dash.


This bracket will secure to 2 of the studs on the brake pedal secure. It also uses a hole that I stuck a pushpin in at the bottom. It holds the main remote start unit.


This bracket holds the cellular "dronemobile" unit. It secures to an unused attachment point above the glovebox, and to the bracket that holds the IP substrate to the skeleton structure of the IP.




Here you can see everything installed under the drivers side of the dash.




Here you can see the drone-mobile device with it's bracket. This is hidden above the glove box. There is a hole that I found on the back side of the IP substrate that made it almost a factory mounting point.





I have been using the remote start for a few days. I have never had one before and this is a winter/work car for me so it sure is different.
