Jeez that Type-R sedan looks absolutely stunning. Does anyone know when the 2017 Si will hit dealerships? I'm getting different answers from 3 different dealerships. I am so eager to get one! I wonder if it will be equipped with android auto like the 2016 Civics?

At this point *rumors* are that the Si and the R will make an appearance at the Paris Auto Show either late Sept or the first week of October and will land on US soil for SEMA the first week of November.

The Si is said to be on sale shortly after the unveil and the R will be on sale late spring, early summer 2017 as a 2018 model. Again, pure speculation at this point I have found -0- reference from Honda to confirm or deny these rumors.

By the way, these images from Auto Express are vastly different from the spy photos we've seen.

These images were taken mid-July

Honda Pro Jason indicated that the hatchback will be available in September. The rumor mill says the Si will not be offered in 4-door hatchback form. The R will be 4-door hatchback only, not included with this release.

I also forgot to mention, some insiders have spilled that a "sport trim" hatchback will be available. This is different than a Si.

Plenty of photos have surfaced that show the hatchback on the water enroute to the US. That said, a boat ride and going through customs is about a 30 day process. I expect we will know about the hatchback within a few weeks.

Sports trim probably the ex-t engine with a manual transmission, either 5spd or 6spd.

I think they're calling it Sport Touring, which makes me a little uncomfortable. It's possible with nomenclature like that, you won't have a 6 MT.

How much longer for the Si to be announce here is the Civic Hatchback it will be available in LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Sport Touring trims, and will feature a single engine for the U.S. market: a 1.5-liter DOHC direct-injected turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder with peak output of 174 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque in LX, EX and EX-L trims and 180 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque in the Sport and an all-new Sport Touring grade, which feature a high-flow center-mounted exhaust. The turbocharged engine will be offered with either a sporty CVT (all trims) or a performance-inspired 6-speed manual transmission (LX, Sport, and EX trims).

Will the CVT outperform the MT? That seems to be the current trend in the new car market.

There is a possibility it will, yes. There is a reason F1 banned it years ago, lol...

I'm sure by now, everyone has seen the most recent spy shots of the R:

All of the buzz says it will be unveiled as a concept in the coming weeks at the Paris Auto Show. Not much buzz on the Si.

Honda will unveil a European hatchback at the Paris Auto Show. They will also be unveiling the European sedan at the show, which will be nearly identical to the US version. Many are saying that we will see the R as a concept that will closely resemble the production version as well.
Honda Worldwide | September 8, 2016 "Honda to unveil Civic hatchback at Paris Motor Show 2016"

From the site linked:
Honda to unveil Civic hatchback at Paris Motor Show 2016
  • Honda unveils the European version of the new Civic Hatchback
  • Sedan version also makes European debut
  • New Jazz Spotlight Edition showcases new premium look and feel for supermini
Honda will take the next step in its European product offensive at the 2016 Paris Motor Show with the unveil of the new Civic hatchback.

Global premiere of Civic Hatchback

The Civic Hatchback makes its global motor show debut at Paris, showcasing the mass production exterior and interior design. The car is set to appear in showrooms across Europe from early 2017.

Civic is Honda’s biggest selling nameplate worldwide and the brand has undertaken the most comprehensive research and development programme in its history for this tenth edition.

Honda’s stand will also feature the four door sedan model of Civic. Built at Honda’s production facility in Gebzé, Turkey, the new design includes an improved exterior and interior design. This car will be available in mainland European markets from early 2017.

I got tired of waiting and got a 2016 ILX and I gotta say, the 8 speed DC transmission ROCKS. Convenience of an auto in traffic with the performance of a manual in S mode, with rev-matched downshifts as well. It takes a little getting-used-to driving an auto like a clutch-less manual (after converter lock-up) but if you haven't tried one, you really need to. Oh, and I have seen 40 mpg on the highway.

So now that the 2017 Civics are available in dealerships, when will the Si be available? How many months later did the 2015 Si come after the other 2015 models?

The full frontal look is very nice. However, the rest of the car -- and especially the back end, is just way too busy. And this is already in a low gloss black that would hide some of the busyness.

Yes! This car is so bad ***.

Great info from this Top Gear article:
The new Honda Civic Type R is here, and it wants a Ring record | Top Gear

You wait ages and ages for a new Honda Civic Type R, and well, two arrive almost back-to-back. Yes, scarcely a year after we first drove the current banzai Civic, Honda has just unveiled a concept version of the next-gen car, due to go on sale worldwide in 2017. And once again, it wants a Nürburgring lap record.

Officially called the Type R Prototype, the car you’re gawping at is strictly a concept for now (though doesn’t it look production ready?) so there’s nothing in the way of technical data. But we do know it will stay front-wheel drive, both to stick with Type R tradition, and to allow Honda to get its FWD Nordschleife honours back from VW, who nicked them with the Golf GTI Clubsport S.

And this Civic really is ‘worldwide’. No Civic Type R has ever been officially sold in the USA – it’s been a case of import your own at great expense with much tedious paperwork. But because the new Civic hatchback is a global car, aimed at Japan, Europe and indeed the USA, the angry-looking Type R will also land Stateside. It will still be built in Swindon, though.

Having recently gone to the trouble of building a 306bhp 2.0-litre turbo VTEC powerplant, the new Type R will use that engine. Though we suspect it will be a little uprated to keep pace with the likes of the 345bhp Ford Focus RS, and to give it an edge over the Golf (and perhaps other rivals) for that lap time.

Beneath the skin, it’s based on the all-new Mk10 Civic platform, and the Type R is set to borrow the same variable steering system and refreshed rear suspension setup. Honda has designed the standard Civic to be more fun than ever to drive, and engineers say it’s been a great springboard for making a bona fide performance version. We’re promised a sharper chassis than ever.

You’ve probably noticed the looks, however. “The design is all in the pursuit of performance,” the Type R’s designer, Daisuke Tsutamori, told TG. “All of the design features have a function, and this is as close to a production car as is possible.”

So the rear wing is shaped entirely by function, while the triple exhaust pipes and each and every vent serve a purpose. The drag coefficient is improved “significantly” (though we’ve not been given an exact number) and the Civic Type R is lower and wider than before. Tsutamori didn’t design the outgoing Type R, but does believe hot hatches should look wild, and that there should be continuity between the two models.

The bodykit is largely very similar, then, though this time it’s fitted to a car that’s been designed to get the Type R treatment from the outset. We’re not sure it wears it better as a result. Aesthetically, there’s quite a strong Subaru Impreza vibe going on here, and like that car, there could be a four-door Type R, albeit not for the European market.

The car rides on 20-inch alloys, up an inch size from the current Type R hatch, and its tyres are 245-section in width. All told, it’s a pretty punchy looking family car, and still unmistakably Japanese.

Honda’s unwrapping the production version of this car in 2017, and we’d expect it to differ little from this. Wondering why it’s here so soon? Simply because Honda only pushed the button on Type R production very late in the outgoing Civic’s life. Now there’s a new version, the hot hatch iteration arrives almost from the outset.

Am I the only one that finds it sad that Honda-tech, probably one of the oldest Honda enthusiast based websites on the internet, posted a front page article about a DA integra on the day that probably every Honda enthusiast has been waiting for?

I think its safe to say that honda-tech is dead.
