Default Skunk2 Camber kit problem

Well i got bored and decided to rotate my tires, tighten every thing up, even stiffen up my ride because because i was rubbing a little. go the to rear of the car and noticed something unusual.

i looked at the inside part of my camber kit and noticed this.

a rubber inside split in half and the pins were gone. same thing on the other side.

and the hole in the camber kit is pretty big and it wasnt even snug around the piece im holding in the first pic. with the wheel off i was able to shake my wheel back and forth.

so uhh....what now =(

OP.....Call Brian Nichols at Skunk2. Their contact info is on their website, but I do know his direct extension is 209. Just dial it as soon as you hear the automated voice begin babbling. He also has an e-mail.....

briann@skunk2.com

E-mail him the pictures of what happened and he should be able to explain it better to you.

I have the same Skunk2 camber kit and haven't had that happen to me so I honestly don't know what could have caused it...but i'll be checking mine as well.

Good luck!!

I've always been told to avoid all Skunk products, maybe this is an example of why.

Maybe you're just taking everybody's advice a little too seriously. Skunk stands by their product just like any other reputable company. And because one person has an issue with their camber kit all of a sudden the entire company is ****?

The day 20 people owning various cars start coming in here saying their coilover struts fell off the car is the day you need to worry about them. But since nearly everybody that I know that has purchased Skunk products has been nothing but satisfied with them....well then I think it's a little premature to think that they make poor products just because one person has an issue with one camber kit.

haha

hopefully they give me a revised set that fixes the issue. something along the lines of the SPC assembly which looks more reinforced. you should check yours too man, i've been hearing from other 8th owners that this is a common problem for bushing. i kinda saw this comming too. i mean what happens with rubber is in between 2 piece of steel..

hope this plays out well. n i get a gold set to match my Enkeis

So they are aware of this problem then? You're the first person I've seen in here that has had this issue....and i'm pretty sure there are quite a few people that have bought this camber kit.

Is it a widespread problem or is it just isolated to a few units?

It's kind of concerning given the statement on their product description from their website.....

UPDATE

so after a couple of weeks of unanswered emails, i took the time to drive out to Norco and pay Skunk2 a visit. i told them who i was explained my situation and also brought up the emails. Chris, who had just gotten out of a meeting told me that he never got any. miscommunication i guess.

anyway, after browsing though some cool magazines in the skunk2 lobby he came out with a hand full of bushings, 8 total. i swore they looked like the old ones but after i got them on, i havnt had a problem since. its probably a stronger polyurethane or something. about 6 out of 8 of my old bushings were either almost, or already torn. 2 on each side for the inner part of the arm. and 1 on each side where the bushing meets the brake assembly. didnt take long to put replace em but yea problem solved.

To the OP. I bought a skunk2 rear camber kit for my ef sedan. Held onto them for a year til I got my full suspension. Just recently installed everything. Did a rear disc swap and then my rear wheel bearing went out. I drove less then 100 miles on this kit by the way....anyways....I pulled the wheel off finally so I can pull the trailing arm off and get a new wheel bearing pressed. While I was doing that I noticed one of the bushings on the camber kit tore on the same side the wheel bearing went out. The side that attaches to the chassis but to the trailing arm itself on the camber arm.

Should I email Chris at the email you provided? I'm afraid he will not get back to me like he did with you and I do not want to make the drive from Arizona to Nor Cal.

Hope thats not too much to read but my question is. Who do I get a hold of so I can get them to send me a new bushing out?

Every time I email them, I get a pretty prompt response. Longest wait time was a couple days, but it's usually next day. But if it's a rush, call them.

the new bushings are more "wet" than the old bushings.

this is why people are recommending the spc rear arms over skunk2; the bushings are supposed to last longer on spc. hopefully the newer bushings last longer than the old ones.
