Re: Pricing on a used 2006 Si
Just wondering if I can get a deal on an used '06 being sold from a Honda Dealer. It has 59,000 miles on it, two owners and accident history (no idea how bad but I assume it can't be bad because it's being sold as Honda Certified). They are asking $15,900 for it. Edmonds TMV has dealer retail between $11,700 and $12,500. Do you guys think that I can walk into the dealer with the Edmonds TMV and get it for that price given the history of the vehicle? Thanks!

I would go prepared to take the car, take your money or a sizable deposit, and all the papers you need as if you were buying the car right then.
Say to the guy this is what I have, I'm ready to buy the car this instant, if he turns you down leave him your phone number, and tell him he has until the end of the day to make the deal at that price.
The most he can do is to say no, dealers don't like seeing dollars walking away.

Re: Pricing on a used 2006 Si
I'm selling my 06 nhbp coupe privately with 53,000 miles on it. Maintained perfectly and am asking $12,500 for it. 15,900 is absolutely insane.

Re: How much is a used 07 civic si
I would suggest to start working on your credit now, get yourself a credit card and make sure when you use it you can pay off the balance each month.
make sure you can pay for what you get and you will never have any problems, in other words don't buy a 5K item on a card that you don't have the money to pay off.
I started small, and worked my way up, so can you.
I would imagine a 07 or 08 Si would be about 13 to 15K, it all depends on the mileage, less miles more money.
I just got a decent 06 with 95k for 9K, it needs a little work but nothing I can't do myself.

Re: Looking into purchasing a 2007 Si Coupe - need opinions.
I found a 2007 Honda Civic Si coupe for sale with 52k miles that's about a hour and a half from me.

I called and the guy said it's his cousin's car who is 20 years old (most likely was driven hard). Has a cold are K&N air filter (which I don't care for). He said the car has never been in an accident, flood, etc... New clutch and tires a few months ago. Has an aftermarket stereo unit that doesn't get any reception. I asked if he would include stock parts and he said that he does not have them.
The only downfall of the car, according to him, he was driving on the highway and ran over a tire which caused a 6inch dent of the underside quarter panel.
Do you guys think this looks too good to be true?
KBB is about 14,500.

Re: Buying/Thinking about Buying an 8th Gen Civic
Very informative thread. I just want to give you guys an update on my decision. Well, I was hoping to buy the Si for 14k last month before labor day (I explained begining of thread) . I was not approve for financing =( .... So, I have been saving up a bit, and asking my girlfriend to help me with buying a USED Si from a private seller. Anyways, long story short, to this day, i still couldn't find an un abused fa5... They all have mods such as suspension, intakes, headers etc. Just last week, I came across an owner selling a pretty clean fa5 with only 32k miles, for 10500...... But its salvage and I couldnt find a carfax report for it. Owner saids he doesnt know what happened as to he got it that way.... could be lying i dont know .... Test drove it... third gear grinds a bit at around 5k rpm granny shift... Its an 07 too. =/ Sigh, just keep looking i guess.. I gotta have a car by december... worse case, ill just go to a certified Mazda and see what happens.....

Re: Buying/Thinking about Buying an 8th Gen Civic
If you can wait until next spring I will be selling mine 95K on it now runs great the only problem I found was the clutch was too stiff for my bad leg so I had to put in a new clutch and plate.
I'm the 4th owner, the guy I bought it off was a 40 year old executive type, the car was hit once and repaired then sold honda certified.
I'm old and use the car for a winter driver, I buy something different every winter, got a new vette GS and a new truck, if you could wait I would take 12 in the spring, by then any problems I find will be repaired correctly.

NOOB...about to purchase an 08 SI...
Hey folks.
lil about me...
I am new to the Honda world. I have owned alot of different types of cars over the years but I am trying to Get out of my Tacoma and into a Civic for better MPG. Driving about 100miles /day. only get about 15.5 MPG highway.
As it stands right now, I am headed to a dealer tomorrow afterwork (most likely to buy) a 2008 SI coupe. it has 34k and a bunch of aftermarket parts. Injen Intake, "aftermarket" exhaust, Bronze colored Mugen MF-10 wheels (not sure size.) advertised as 17" but that is stock info they posted I think. listed to have a "hondata computer".
the price is favorable compared to the last 2 I looked at. So I have an appointment to check it out tomorrow night. with the given information would you think i would be faced with a significant MPG drop? I am buying teh cr to save gas...The accessories are just a bonus...i will part the thing out back to stock if i am facing a large MPG drop.
Just wanted to get some feedback.

Re: NOOB...about to purchase an 08 SI...
Well Bolt-ons line IHE Will not hurt fuel mileage. Some will even argue that Intakes can help fuel mileage a bit. If it DOES have a Hondata then you can assume it is tuned to get the best out of the mods. I would be willing to bet your MPG will be just fine the way it is.

Re: NOOB...about to purchase an 08 SI...
OP: welcome. Bolt-on performance parts will not usually hurt your MPG. They may even increase your consumption via improving intake and exhaust efficiency. But I wouldn't classify Hondata as a bolt-on component. Depending on how it's tuned, the fuel mileage may be lower due to increased air/fuel.
*side note: I'd be very cautious about buying a car with modifications. Its hit or miss man. And alot of guys on here (honda-tech) are big on the "Built not Bought" creed, so you may have some biased opinions about buying an already-modified civic.

Re: NOOB...about to purchase an 08 SI...
I am not too worried my best friend is a mechanic at a local honda dealer...and there is still "dealer" and factory warenty left on the car...so i have about 30,000 for any problem to arise...
and like i said...if i see something not quite right i will rip it out and put it back to stock faster than a fat kid on a warm apple pie...these bolt ons are essentially freebies. I could really care less...i just wanted the SI. it was more fun to drive than the EX.

just a warning to be careful. i don't like to see anyone getting screwed over.

Re: NOOB...about to purchase an 08 SI...
Depending on how you drive it you should get way better mileage with the si, I have a 09 tacoma 4 cyl stick, but I get way better mpg than you stated I'm getting between 22 and 24 with my truck .
My si coupe is getting between 32 and 36 in town the only things different on my car are a K&N and I have 205/16's on it.
I'm still looking for a set of stock si 17's if anyone has a set they are going to sell.
