Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
Update on my setup....
Getting the Godspeed Project Mono Max... installing them in April. I got some good feedback from a guy who track his car in Global Time Attack that they work extremely well for that price range compared to anything else.
Ordered TSX calipers and brembo blank to match them with some Hawk DTC-60.
Should be an interesting year in my time attach and hpde season! JUST CAN'T WAIT!!!

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
Just wanted to update...
Decided to cancel my order of the TSX calipers. I'll be just upgrading the pads and getting SS lines instead.
Reason is I've decided to save up and go with the Stoptech kit instead this winter. It will be a much more complete upgrade.

There are lots of really nice pad options for your car. I'm seriously disappointed at the lack of offerings for aftermarket pads for a 2012.
I am hoping that I can get my car prepped this weekend. I will be in H Street/SCCA, so modifications are limited. First run is in 3 weeks!

from the reading i've been doing it looks like the disc isn't bigger but just thicker... meaning better cooling for them.

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
Honda lists the pads from 2012+ to be a different brake pad than previous generations for the front. I haven't really looked at pads for the rear.
Porterfield and Cobalt are about the only brake pad manufactures producing any pad over a 'street orientated' compound. Im sure there are a few others but none that stand out to me.
I am putting in HPS from Hawks in the front which should suffice for autox. I am holding my breath for Hawk to come through with a good pad for the 9th gen Si. They told me they were at the 'beginning of the year' so hopefully the beginning of the year isn't too much longer. I am a big fan of Hawk brake pads.

Ya i was surprised to see that too!
Hopefully something comes out soon... HPS will be better then stock but don't expect to be blown away. I had a lot of fade with them at the track and couldn't do more then 3 hot laps. Every lap I felt it getting worse and worse!

Carbotech has pads for the 9th gen (2012+)... I'm running their XP10 on front and XP8 on the rears. So far I'm pleased. Definitely dusty and noisy, but I'm totally fine with that and I've been happy with them for street driving as well, so no swapping pads/rotors back and forth for events.

Was actually even more curious... from what I can tell the rotors are similar to the 08 TSX... I'm looking into to see if the TSX pads are the same for the 9th gens junkyard racer if so then that could an easy way at getting better pads!

So the parts numbers are very close but it's small variations... probably very small difference.
Junkyard did you see the Buddy Club BBK upgrade for the 9th gen? It looks like a good deal!

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
Everything I have cross referenced is that the 2012 Civic Si pad is in a league of its own on the front.
I did see the BC kit. Looks so good. Wilwood also has a kit that I like.
My problem (if you want to call it that) is that I am trying to play with H Street in SCCA. Pads and fluid are the only thing I can change to keep within the rules.

Nope. Check my review thread on the 2014 Si. My latest post pretty much gives all of the rules for prepping a car for the class-

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
Got my Gospeed Mono Max coilovers installed. Been setting up the preloads and making last adjustments. Will be going for alignment on Saturday!
Just have one thing to say WOW! Rides over bumps really well. I'll be doing a full review and posting it up soon.

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
For those not following my thread, I finally have an aggressive front brake pad coming from Hawk for the 2012+ Si. They are building their Street/Race pad which is designed for those who do HPDE, Auto-x, and aggressive sprinted driving, but still want a pad that is able to be daily driven. It's a pad that is between their Hawk HP+ (aggressive street) and black (entry level motorsport) and they claim is one of the best pads they have ever built for those seeking an enthusiast aggressive brake pad.
They are estimated to be available by months end (currently), and cost is significantly less than the few similar pads on the market.

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
Will they be making it for the 8th gen also?
I would assume so... this is great news for you as I know how hard it's been to find a decent brake pad to use for your 9th!

Re: Official HPDE/Time Attack/Racing Thread
The Hawk 5.0, HP+, and Street/Race have been available from Hawk for the 8th gen and 9th gen up until the brake upgrade in 2012.

The new 5.0 is a step head of the HPS but behind the HP+ in terms of brake torque and produces slightly more dust than the HPS. It's a great street pad, good for autox, but not something I would take to the road course for a few laps.

Brake pads are like underwear. You gotta find what works for you and that comes from trying different sets. lol
