Malfunction Indicator Lamp

Malfunction Indicator Lamp
When driving to work heard a beep from dashboard and it was the 'Malfunction indicator lamp' had come on. Managed to get it to and from work ok, driving more carefully than usual.
Just had a service and MOT two weeks ago and passed no problem. The indicator comes up even when you put key in and stays on when turn ignition.
Could this be serious?
It is best to avoid using car until its sorted?

Re: Malfunction Indicator Lamp
When you get it diagnosed for free (don't go to a dealer)ask what the problem is when they pull the code, get a price on the parts, then ask them to clear the code.
when you know how much the parts are it gives you an idea of how much the repair might cost without labor.
There are occasions when you just get a random code and there is nothing wrong, if the light comes back then you know it's time to have it repaired

Re: Malfunction Indicator Lamp
Just got car back from Honda garage, code was P2A00, internal air/fuel sensor fault. Was £93 for them to look at it (still under warranty so will get that back).
They think it could have just been a loose connection, as they took it for a quick drive and light is now off and has stayed off.
If i was to need a new sensor cost would be £238.72, so fingers crossed it doesn't come back on.
