Off Topic, but on a RHD car, is 1st gear all the way to the left, or all the way to the right? (Do the gears progress left or right?) I imagine it makes more sense for it to be on the right.
Everything is set up the same, including the pedals.

yes its all the way to the left. nothing changes in the tranny, what changes is what side you sit on and what side the e-brake is on. i drive rhd everyday at work and its hella fun

A lot of these JDM parts were incorporated in to the Acura CSX, sold by Honda Canada Inc.

I'm less concerned with the looks when considering the performance. Or better yet the products and materials used. JDM type r's have stuff like close gear ratio's, more compression, tighter valvetrain, titanium rods, crisp suspesion, chassis bars, better suspension, etc. You must realize that USDM cars are engineered after the JDM version to please as many Americans as possible while still maintaing the overall spirit of the car. The potential of American buyers is greater than any other nation soley on the fact that there are so many people and it is a first world country. That is why they tailor to American taste, although I wish they'd leave it as is in Japan, but they want the sales.

Yes the rules are very strict, which is why most 4 cylider motors do not excede 2.0L in Japan. My buddy got back from Europe and he said every general common car gets anywhere from 40 mpg to 70 mpg. Why can't American companies do that?

In one post you say you want performance, then in the next you say you want a high mpg ratio.

You can't have both.

The Japanese sell us underpowered versions of their cars on purpose. Hence the Mugen Si and 350z, among others.

thats because european cars cost a sh*t load and most people cant afford them here. or the maintenance alone. and the depreciation is about 1.5-5 times greater than asian and domestic cars here.

American companies can't do that because alot of the American vehicle counterparts in Europe run on much smaller and more efficient turbo diesel engines instead of traditional gasoline engines used in the U.S.

Now I'm not 100% sure on this but I believe diesel engines produce more emissions and that could be the reason that they are not widespread here as they are in Europe.
