Comptech is also coming out with a supercharger for around the same amount. They haven't claimed how much the gain will be yet.

Nothing bad here considering a good driver in a stock si can take out a POS cobalt.

That cobalt had better have a really bad driver too.

Do some research the s/c cobalts are underrated. people have been getting anywhere from 205-235 to the wheels on the dyno. The higher numbers aren't very believeable but the LOWEST number is what gm claims they put to the crank. The cobalts are only like 100 punds heavier and they're puttin down about 40 horses more to the wheels. If u had 2 equally experienced drivers the cobalt would walk all over us. Sorry guys i wish it wan't true either.

Oh but on the upside we got them in handling by a long shot. I can vouch for that one.

Cobalts have around 215-220 stock. With a stage 2 kit they get around 240

bone stock a cobalt ss s/c has only 205hp, 200tq with a 2.0L supercharged ECOTEC engine. Max boost of the s/c is 12 psi.

Bone Stock Civic Si:
197hp with 139 torque
2.0L i-vtec engine

Now have in mind superchargers are bad in my opinion...Having boost at idle ehh not a good idea...

Where did you hear that?

Superchargers or turbos both do not make boost at idle.

this guy told me superchargers have boost at all times thats why people go for the turbo's and deal with the lag...
and if they have boost at all times i suppose they have boost when idling?

I beat a ss cobalt on my si on a freeway.
I have an aem cai only.
I think the fg2 have better high ends than the ss cobalt.

(correct me if i'm wrong about that)

You misunderstood him - all he meant was that there's no 'lag.'

well i mean superchargers give you boost at all times which is why u find no lag unlike the turbo...
So when the car is at idle wouldnt u be getting boost too? Have in mind superchargers give u boost 24/7 nonstop

Not entirely true. Superchargers are great for low RPM power, but they will actually rob your engine of high RPM power. Parasitic power loss because they're run off of a pulley/belt system. The engine has to use power in order to spin the supercharger and create boost. Turbo has no parasitic loss, but it has lag. Pick your poison I suppose.

We're talkin actual wheel horsepower that they get on the dynos not the factory claimed BS cause the s/c cobalts are underrated.

Like said above the regular s/c cobalts are puttin down 215-220 to the wheels and the si is puttin down like 170-180. Thats a big difference for only 100 puinds heavier. I'm sure gearing is a factor but straight up from a dig we're done.

im so ****** tired of hearin about the cobalt ss supercharged vs the civic si. both are stock, but they put a supercharger on a piece of **** cobalt and everyone thinks its so awesome. does anyone remember the saturn ion redline? or the neon srt-4. all cars that have base models that dont do **** and then they slap a turbo or supercharger on it outta the factory and everyone talks **** about one or the other. i dont care about any of the cars with "upgraded" engines. the si is an N/A motor with none of that **** done and if i were to slap a supercharger or turbo on my si i would hand everyone of them their asses on a silver platter and then ask them if they wanted more or if they wanted a ride home since their POS broke down. also look at it like this... any civic si over the next 5 years will be worht more than an outdated cobalt ss in 2 years. those cars are trash and will be thrown aside like trash when more mods are available for the si. plain and simple. i dont care about out of hte factory power, im looking at reliability, resale value, and overall driveability of the car. the si handles better, and will last longer. and yes im drunk and no i dont care what u think! this is my ****** opinion... and opinions are like ********... eveyrones got one and they all stink
