I have 2008 Civic LX 1.8L

Air conditioner does not work. The AC switch light comes on, but no noise from the compressor and no cold air.

1. I want to check the fuses, but cannot find any fuse in the owner's manual that is labeled as Air Conditioning. Is there an Air Condition fuse??? If so, how is it labeled?

2. I also found 2 relays, one with a pic of a snowflake on it and the other with a pic of a snowflake and radiator on it. Could it be a relay problem? If so, which one?


Or could the refrigerant pressure be so low that the compressor wont kick in?

I'd say either your compressor went bad or your AC condensor has a tiny hole in it. My AC hasn't worked for at least a year and a half. I went to turn it on last summer and nothing, same as you. I'm pretty sure there are a couple fuses related to AC (did you check both under hood and in cabin fuse boxes?) because I went through every possible thing I could. After some researching on the net, and finding some people with the same problem, I came to the conclusion that my compressor either went bad or I have a tiny hole in my condensor. Something with the large hole opening with little protection in the front bumper of the civic, makes it prone to pebbles and rocks flying through there, and in all of the cases I read, Honda determined it was an "act of God" or something, and wouldn't cover it under warranty. I really don't like AC, it kinda gives me a headache so it's never really bothered me. Maybe one day I'll get it fixed.

There are many many things that have caused it

Refrigerant charge level
A/C pressure switch
A/C thermostat
Compressor relay
Fuses
Short in the wiring
Disconnected/damaged wire harness
Damaged A/C control unit

If you want to fix I would get a helms manual and look at the procedure for diagnosing a bad A/C system. They usually have a flowchart to walk you through the long process.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

I did check the fuses (both locations) but nothing is labeled as A/C. The closest thing i could find is a fuse labeled HAC (dont know what that is, but the fuse was fine).

I will look for a Helms manual and check out the procedure.

Try running the self-diagnostic function

1. turn the key to the lock (0) position
2. press and hold the recirculation and rear window defogger buttons, turn the key to ON (II)
3. the recirculation indicator turns on for 2 seconds, then the self diagnostic function begins

Note:
-the blower motor will run at various speeds when in self-diagnostic mode
-in the case of multiple problems, the recirculation indicator will blink the lowest # DTC only
-if no DTCs are found, the indicator will not blink

DTCs are as follows

1 Blink = open in the air mix control motor circuit
2 Blinks = short in the air mix control motor circuit
3 Blinks = problem in the air mix control linkage, door, or motor
4 Blinks = open or short in the mode control motor circuit
5 Blinks = problem in the mode control linkage, door, or motor
6 Blinks = problem in the blower motor circuit
7 Blinks = HVAC control unit internal error
8 Blinks = open in the evaporator temp sensor circuit
9 Blinks = short in the evaporator temp sensor circuit

So when the self-diagnostic begins, try n sit there and count the # of times the recirculation indicator blinks ... the manual doesnt tell me when the blinking may begin after starting up this self-diagnostic function so be patient with it ... get back to me and lemme know if you obtain any of these DTCs so that i can delve further into the manual for some more help
